Role Summary
The Electrical Engineer is responsible for designing, installing, testing, and maintaining electrical systems and equipment specifically within oil and gas facilities. This role ensures safety, reliability, and compliance with all standards across all project phases.
Key Responsibilities
Design & Engineering: Review and approve the design of electrical power distribution systems (LV, MV, HV), including SLDs, load lists, cable schedules, grounding, and lighting layouts. Perform system studies such as load flow, short circuit, and arc flash. Ensure compliance with industry standards (e.g., IEC, NEC, IEEE, ATEX).
Project Execution: Review and approve vendor documents, prepare Material Requisitions (MRs) and Technical Bid Evaluations (TBEs). Interface with other disciplines to ensure design integration.
Construction & Commissioning: Supervise installation, conduct inspection, testing, and pre‑commissioning. Participate in Factory Acceptance Tests (FATs) and Site Acceptance Tests (SATs).
Operations & Maintenance: Support operations by troubleshooting and maintaining systems. Participate in root cause analysis for electrical failures and review condition monitoring data.
Essential Qualifications & Experience
Education
Bachelor Degree from an accredited university
Experience
Minimum of five (5) years of post‑graduate work experience in the discipline.
A minimum of 5 years of offshore experience in total, with at least the last 3–5 years spent on offshore projects.
Skills
In-depth knowledge of electrical design for oil & gas environments (onshore/offshore).
Familiarity with hazardous area classification.
Experience with electrical system modeling software (e.g., ETAP, SKM, DigSILENT).
Excellent spoken and written English, including proven ability to write reports.
