Data Center Manager, Data Center Operations
AWS Infrastructure Services owns the design, planning, delivery, and operation of all AWS global infrastructure. In other words, we’re the people who keep the cloud running. We support all AWS data centers and all of the servers, storage, networking, power, and cooling equipment that ensure our customers have continual access to the innovation they rely on. You’ll join a diverse team of software, hardware, and network engineers, supply chain specialists, security experts, operations managers, and other vital roles. About You
You will be a proven manager with experience managing teams of high performers. You will have the ability to refine and develop processes to optimize operational excellence in every area of your role. You will be able to drive performance levels to achieve the pace at which we build and operate Data Centers in India for Amazon Data Services India Private Limited (“ADSIPL”). You will have previous experience in Data Centers, either building or managing (or both) along with exposure to developing great relationships with both internal teams and external vendors.
You will also have a passion for technology along with a desire to be the best at your job every day!
About The Role
As a Data Center Manager in ADSIPL, you will get to manage the world’s largest Cloud Computing Infrastructure in India. We encounter interesting, challenging & complex problems every day, being a technical manager in ADSIPL means that you can innovate to solve these issues and help drive Operations Excellence in all areas of your role.
Day-to-Day Responsibilities

Managing and developing teams of engineers, providing both technical and leadership expertise and ensuring highest levels of performance.
Maintaining existing co-located and in-house Data Centers.
Helping build and bring online new Data Centers.
Constantly improving all our processes and procedures.
Assisting & managing relationships with external vendors & contractors.
Liaising with internal teams & management groups.
Ensuring we adhere to and exceed local Health & Safety standards in all our Data Centers.
Creating and maintaining metrics on all aspects of our Data Centers and utilizing those metrics to drive positive changes.
Assisting in implementing service methodologies including incident management, problem management, change management, capacity management, etc.

Candidate Profile

People Management. Managed a team of at least 5 individuals for at least 3 years, improved team performance, created or grew a team, conflict management skills.
Incident Management. Experienced in high severity situations, understanding blast implications, change management & fault management.
Vendor Management. Experienced with external vendors, contractors, security companies, conflict resolution.
Process Improvement. Demonstrated ability to take processes and improve them, experience in Kaizen/Lean/Six Sigma preferable.
Health & Safety. Influencing safety culture at Data Center organization.

Basic Qualifications

Bachelor's degree or above in engineering or equivalent with 5+ years of engineering work managing large-scale services experience, 3+ years of managing technical teams with significant personnel management experience and examples of developing engineers and building successful teams experience.
Experience in major facilities incident management.
Experience leading process improvements.
Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and effective communication abilities.
7+ years of relevant experience in DC Operations, IT Operations or similar roles.

Preferred Qualifications

Bachelor's degree or above in engineering or equivalent STEM field, or 3+ months of network and operating system support experience.
Experience in project management.
1+ years of Agile methods and processes experience.
Experience in capacity planning, operations planning, business analysis or similar.
Knowledge of Lean, Kaizen, Six Sigma concepts.
Experience implementing change management successfully transitioning programs into large-scale operations.
