In this role, you’ll be the bridge between research and product, ensuring that innovative algorithms, at the core of our digital biomarkers and powered by Digital Signal Processing (DSP) and AI/ML, run efficiently on our platforms and deliver real-world impact in health tech.You’ll collaborate with data scientists and product teams to take experimental digital biomarkers from prototype to clinical-grade deployment. Your work will enable the detection, monitoring, and prediction of health outcomes using data from sensors, wearables, and other digital endpoints.If you’re passionate about turning data science into meaningful digital biomarkers and digital health measures, and you thrive at the intersection of engineering, AI, and biomedical innovation, this role is for you.ResponsibilitiesIntegrate algorithms developed in R&D into our DSP library (C/embedded) or into cloud-based workflows (Python)Assess the technical feasibility of new algorithms in terms of computational resources, memory usage, and compatibility with the DSP architecture and provide inputs for algorithm components optimization.Collaborate with the Data Science team to ensure behavior, performance, parameters and edge cases are aligned between R&D code and production code.Coordinate with Firmware, Mobile, and Cloud teams to ensure correct definition of inputs/outputs and biomarker formats.Support the QA team in defining testing protocols, debugging, and troubleshooting issues.Create and maintain technical documentation for releases and compliance (in collaboration with the Regulatory team).Actively contribute to release planning and cross-team communication of changes.Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Electronic Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, or equivalent.3–4 years of experience working with Digital Signal Processing (DSP) and/or biomedical algorithms in an applied setting.Strong programming skills in C (embedded/low-level) and Python (tooling, scripting, data processing).Experience with version control systems (Git).Solid understanding of testing, debugging, and release management practices.Proven ability to work in cross-functional environments and communicate effectively with non-technical stakeholders.Fluency in English, written and spoken.Nice to HaveFamiliarity with regulatory compliance processes for medical device software.Experience with mobile SDKs or cloud-based data pipelines.Knowledge of Docker or similar containerized environments.What We OfferThe opportunity to work on innovative products in the healthtech space.A multidisciplinary and highly collaborative team environment.Career growth opportunities towards Tech Lead role.A dynamic, international, and mission-driven workplace.Some important details:Empatica operates in an international environment with offices in Europe, the US, and Korea.
