Job Description Summary At Avio Aero, a GE Aerospace Company, we’ve been reimagining the power of flight for more than 100 years. We are specialized in the design, production and maintenance of components and systems for both the civil and military aviation.In the role of Airworthiness & Certification Engineer, you will contribute to the development of a Design Organization aligned with the Company’s strategy and compliant with EASA Part 21 requirements. You will contribute to ensuring that the Company's Design Management System is kept aligned with regulatory updates in both civil (EASA Part-21) and military (ITA MoD AER (EP).P-21) jurisdictions. Job DescriptionThe candidate will be directly responsible for actively support the design teams during the entire life cycle (NPI and fielded products) by establishing strong collaboration with Avio Aero Sections and GE Aerospace sites to :contribute with internal / external customers in defining and executing the certification plans for NPI and changes to fielded products ensuring the initial airworthinesscontribute to cross-functional teams to improve or resolve manufacturing, suppliers’, or field issues ensuring the continued airworthinesscontribute to cross-functional teams in cost reduction, problem solving and quality initiativesmeet NPI milestonesmeet on time delivery of internal / external customers’ requestsprepare and present at Technical ReviewsYou will collaborate with Airworthiness Authority and / or Industry working groups to defining the state of the art in Airworthiness and Certification to anticipate, develop and apply technology to current and future business opportunities. You will contribute to assessing the implication of the innovative technologies on the certification with focus on regulatory novelty and technology maturation.On a need basis, you will collaborate with ODA - Regulation & Certification Engineers (RCEs) for programs under FAA jurisdiction and you will contribute to the Company Independent System Monitoring (ISM) during audit campaigns.Qualifications / RequirementsMaster’s degree in Mechanical / Aeronautical EngineeringExperience in an engineering positionConsolidated knowledge of turbomachinery and rotorcraft and relevant design requirementsBasic knowledge of regulatory requirements in EU (CS-E, CS-27, CS-29) and EASA Part-21 basic principlesBasic knowledge of conventional and special machining processes (drilling, turning, milling, broaching, shot peening, EDM, ECM, etc.)Familiarity with GE Aerospace / GE Avio organization and productsNever-ending learning attitude and a System thinking mentalitySelf-directed and motivatedOpen mindset and strong attitude to work in teamSolid interpersonal skillsCapability to work in a dynamic and international environmentFluency in English and Italian (speaking and writing / reading)Work Visa, in accordance with local regulation, is requiredDesired CharacteristicsAwareness of Regulatory Specifications in US jurisdiction (FAA / FAR)Familiarity with Regulatory and International StandardsBasic knowledge of design criteriaSolid oral and written communication skillsSolid leadership skillsPassionate, curious, and enthusiastic for engineering challengesWhat we offerSmart working and work life-balanceAvio Aero, when possible, promotes remote work and encourages a good, healthy and satisfying work-life balance.
