Workplace Health and Safety Officer, Workplace Health & SafetyJob ID: 3050689 | Souq.com for E-Commerce LLCThe Site WHS Officer will be responsible for partnering with site operations teams in delivery stations to execute company safety policies and ensure compliance with all applicable local and regional regulations. By leveraging lean principles and kaizens, you will lead continuous improvement initiatives to reduce conditional and ergonomic risks in our processes to ensure a safe and healthful working environment for our Associates. A successful Site WHS Officer will demonstrate the ability to build trust and confidence with the Operations Team and inspire change through providing comprehensive risk assessments and safety data analysis. The Site WHS Officer must be an effective communicator and send clear, concise, and consistent messages, both verbally and in writing. You will instruct and train Operations Leaders in Amazon WHS policies and assist the operations site teams in incorporating our safety standards at their site. You will work to identify best practices and incorporate these standard methodologies into our standards to continuously improve the safety landscape. Site WHS Officer will possess excellent safety program knowledge as well as environmental and ergonomic knowledge and be able to demonstrate this expertise when working with Operations. The Site WHS Officer will be a part of the site WHS team and report to the site WHS manager. The WHS Officer should be flexible to work in shifts.RequirementsPossess a thorough understanding of local/regional regulations and company policyStrong analytical and problem-solving abilitiesExcellent verbal and written communication skillsExperience in implementing safety programsAbility to work collaboratively with operations teamsKnowledge of lean principles and continuous improvement methodologiesFlexibility to work varying shifts as neededDemonstrated ability to influence and drive changeProficiency in data analysis and risk assessmentKey job responsibilitiesProvide guidance to ensure compliance with Amazon WHS standards/policiesMeasure and track site performance against safety policy requirementsDevelop and implement corrective action plans for identified deficienciesEnsure proper incident investigation and closure of corrective/preventive actionsLead quality project delivery to Operations teamsAnalyze safety metrics and review incident trends (weekly/monthly)Allocate resources based on identified risk areasPerform regular site safety auditsAudit record-keeping practices and ensure Austin entries align with global WHS standardsMonitor workplace organization and Associate behaviorsVerify training, auditing, and scoring methods for accuracy and consistencyLead and mentor Safety Associates during peak periodsEnsure site leadership and Associates understand their safety responsibilitiesAudit safety training quality, delivery, and effectivenessImplement basic safety training calendarCoordinate Fire Fighting and First Aid training requirementsMaintain and monitor PPE inventoryCoordinate with procurement for PPE ordersEnsure site-wide PPE complianceImplement PIT safety systemsOversee yard safety system implementationMonitor preventive maintenance of Fire protection and emergency equipmentEstablish and maintain Work Permit SystemImplement contractor safety management protocolsExecute best practices across site operationsEngage with Safety teams, Associates, and leaders for program improvementsMaintain open communication regarding progress and resolutionPartner with facility team on equipment maintenance and safety protocolsSeek input on safety program improvement opportunitiesImplement solutions to eliminate risk exposureMonitor and enhance safety protocolsDrive adoption of best practicesEnsure effective communication of safety initiatives and outcomesBasic QualificationsWH&S experience or WHS qualificationsExperience using Microsoft Word and Excel in a professional capacityBachelor’s degree in safety, environmental, ergonomics or a related field requiredNEBOSH & IOSH certifiedExperience implementing lean principles and process improvement in an operational environmentAbility to adapt well to fast-paced environments with changing circumstances, direction, and strategyGood communicator – English & local languageAvailable to work flexible shifts including days, nights and/or weekendsPreferred Qualifications2+ years of growing responsibilities in safety and/or environmental programs in manufacturing, production, or service operationsAbility to analyze accident data, new processes, and machinery for potential safety concerns and conduct job hazard and job safety analysesExperienced in emergency response and currently holds First aid and CPR certificatesOur inclusive culture empowers Amazonians to deliver the best results for our customers.
