Role Summary
The Veritas Backup SME is responsible for designing, managing, and supporting enterprise backup and recovery solutions. The role focuses on Veritas NetBackup to ensure reliable data protection, backup performance, and disaster recovery across on-prem, virtual, and cloud environments.
Key Responsibilities
Backup & Recovery

Design, implement, and manage Veritas NetBackup solutions
Create backup policies, schedules, and retention plans
Perform backup, restore, and disaster recovery testingMonitor backup jobs and ensure successful completion

System Design & Implementation

Architect scalable backup solutions using Veritas NetBackup / Backup Exec
Configure, tune, and optimize backup environments
Support data migration, storage optimization, and DR initiatives
Ensure backup solutions meet security and infrastructure standards

Troubleshooting & Performance

Identify and resolve backup failures and performance issues
Perform root cause analysis (RCA) for incidents
Optimize network, storage, and server performance related to backups

Automation & Monitoring

Automate backup processes to improve reliability and efficiency
Configure monitoring and alerts for proactive issue detection
Track performance metrics and system health

Documentation & Reporting

Maintain backup policies, procedures, and technical documentation
Provide reports on backup status, capacity, recovery performance, and risks
Support audit and compliance requirements

Collaboration & Support

Work closely with storage, server, and network teams
Provide expert support for backup and restore operations
