Your role
As a System Project Engineering Manager you will lead, manage and control all engineering-related activities in the multidisciplinary projects to deliver on requirements, budget and schedule. You will ensure that "lessons learned" and best practices are applied on projects and transferred to new projects. You will be the main Engineering Interface with the customer.
A big part of your role is to define the implementation of the project jointly with the PM and the Site Manager. You will manage all engineering activities for designated projects (multidisciplinary Signalling Wayside projects based on IXL, ETCS and TMS technologies, with high level of complexity) and the engineering labour budgets; define and tracks engineering deliverables; Identify and captures input requirements from technical meetings with customer and internal stakeholders and distribute to system engineering; Technically support ITC activities.
Objectives
Responsible for the technical management of multidisciplinary Wayside projects based on IXL, ETCS and TMS technologies, with high level of complexity.
To ensure the technical coordination, supervision and integration of design activities for technologies external to signaling (e.g., civil works, electric traction, GSM-R radio, power supplies, etc.), ensuring the achievement of QCD objectives.
Key responsibilities
To lead all aspects of design, implementation, testing and commissioning required to deliver the scope of the engineering project to satisfy customer requirements while adhering to project budgets and schedules.
Establish and maintain interfaces with other Engineering departments & with relevant functions (Project Management, Procurement, Operations, Sales, Bids).
Monitor, control and report monthly all product related financial aspects of the project consistent with the contract requirements and established project management procedures to attain established goals.
Continuous optimization of Project Engineering processes/tools/behaviors by considering business requirements, customer needs, technical innovations, and new market conditions.
Ensuring that relevant skills are made available by the Engineering Function in order to fulfill project requirements.
Qualifications & Functional Knowledge
Engineering graduate.
Previous 3-5 years experience in similar roles or in Design and V&V activities with minimum 2 years of leadership experience.
Interdisciplinary technical background (traditional railway signalling, ERTMS, SCADA, power supply, data networks, civil works, etc.).
Project Management experience and/or skills.
Interest to extend technical skills.
Signalling background and knowledge on signalling systems preferred.
Good knowledge of Italian and English.
