THE ROLE
You will be working in a multi‑disciplinary group, where people with different backgrounds collaborate, each with their own expertise, to support IIT research activity.
You will be working in the Data Science and Computation Facility coordinated by Dr. Sergio Decherchi.
Aim of this position is to support the IIT High Performance Computing systems. The candidate will be the main system administrator of four HPC clusters with a total of about 360 GPUs. Within the team, your main responsibilities will be:
being the main system administrator of the HPC IIT infrastructure.
Manage/develop monitoring and accounting systems (e.g. power consumption, per user core hours, statistics).
Interact with IIT users to support software installation and troubleshooting.
Interact with the ICT department to ensure the full interoperability of systems.
Write and update the internal documentation wiki.
Interact with vendors and oversee HPC systems installation and repair.
Prepare tenders for the purchase of new hardware or the expansion of existing ones.
ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS
Master’s degree in computer science, physics, mathematics, engineering or related disciplines.
Linux system administration knowledge.
Provable experience in the management of HPC systems.
Experience with the Slurm and PBS scheduling systems.
Knowledge of the BeeGFS file system.
Knowledge of Ansible.
Knowledge of Apptainer/Docker systems
Knowledge of OpenStack
Knowledge of Kubernetes
Knowledge of the Git versioning system.
Good knowledge of the English language.
A cooperative approach with the stakeholders.
Accuracy and good analytical skills.
ADDITIONAL SKILLS
Knowledge of the Easybuild for modules creation.
Knowledge of the Open OnDemand access system
Knowledge of LinStor and VAST storage systems.
Strong problem‑solving attitude.
Good in time and priority management.
Ability to work in a challenging and international environment.
Capacity to work autonomously and collaboratively in a highly interdisciplinary environment
Possess analytical reasoning skills and a growth mindset
COMPENSATION PACKAGE
A yearly gross salary ranging between 40.000 and 50.000 euro, bonus option
Two days of teleworking per week and flexible working hours are available
Candidate holding a bachelor’s or master’s degree who have not been resident in Italy in the last 3 years and move back to Italy to start any work activity, and meet specific requirements, can benefit from a 50% deduction on their income.
