Purpose of the position
This role is a key leadership position within the Product Supply Unit (PSC), responsible for securing material availability to the assembly lines. Key task is to ensure the operations and supply chain network meet the demand while keeping lead times stable and within agreed targets. Identify potential risk of material supply and coordinate with sourcing to decide on actions to mitigate and remove them in a timely manner with minimum cost to the business. This position requires results-driven leadership to team members in all Materials/Logistics/Production Planning processes.
Main tasks and responsibilities
Safety
Safety leadership within the Material Management, Logistics and Planning team
Ensuring all lost time incidents are reported and investigated for their own area of responsibility
All risk assessments are carried out and maintained for their own area of responsibility
Participate in 5S cross-department audits and also ensure 5S implementation in own area of responsibility
Quality
Ensuring quality standards and improvement targets are met and maintained
Support Quality Management to ensure continuity of supply with agreed processes for supplier replacement & rework if required
Promote a zero defect culture within the Logistics and planning team
Coordinate with quality to resolve quality issues and on supplier claims
Delivery
Coordination of on-time supplier deliveries in accordance with the value stream’s production schedule
Ensure first time full material availability in accordance with PSC operational requirements
Act as the coordinator between the PSC and key suppliers so as to provide material requirements on a daily, weekly and monthly basis in alignment with the -Sourcing Department
Creation of Supplier delivery forecasts according to the master plans in conjunction with the Sourcing team
Coordination of tasks among Logistics, Inventory and Planning teams
Implementation of the Master schedule in line with the demand plan
Ensure all material planning process and order management KPIs are optimized so as to deliver on time material to the value streams
Support the value stream with planning resources to meet shipping dates according to customer orders
Project management as appropriate for their own area of responsibility
Optimizing associated transportation costs
Collation of Supplier Scorecards in alignment with the Sourcing Department
Inventory
Develop and implement new technology so as to create a factory of the future for warehouse logistics and material planning
Creation and implementation of the PSC inventory policy so as to deliver the PSC forecast with the minimum working capital
Creation and implementation of cycle counting and stock taking policies within the PSC
Maintain the highest inventory accuracy levels within the warehouse
Ensure ERP material transactions are executed in a timely manner with regard to scrap, obsolescence, and production order management
Ensure RCCA’s are completed with regard to scrap, obsolescence, write-off within the Warehouse
Drive procurement methodology and principles based on material segmentation and categorisation (ABCXYZ) to optimize inventory level
Own and drive regular review of stock levels, stock categorization and adjustment in line with demand change and supplier performances
S&OP process facilitation
Demand/supply reviews (DMR, SMR) — Ensure the demand review process happens on time, helping the sales, marketing and commercial teams to comply with the requirements and active participation. Ensure that the supply review process is followed, and is provided as input to the process
What you’ll need to succeed
Education
Degree qualified preferably in a relevant Logistic/Material Planning discipline (eg APICS) and/or relevant industry experience
APCIS CPIM or IIPM Diploma.
Experience
Proven leadership experience & a minimum of 6 years as a Materials/Logistics Manager in a medium-high volume premier international business
Knowledge and experience in the implementation of Factory of the future supply chain management methods and tools (lean, visual management, 6S, Kanban, 3PL, VMI, consignment stock, etc.)
Working knowledge of S&OP & capacity management
Knowledge of smart warehousing principles
