Under the supervision of the Statistics & Monitoring Specialist (P4), the Statistics and Monitoring Officer (P2), Nutrition will support improving the quality, relevance, availability and use of data and contextual information on children and women throughout UNICEF. UNICEF maintains global databases on a large number of nutrition indicators and convenes partners and experts to review and provide technical guidance on nutrition monitoring in several areas such as child malnutrition, infant and young child feeding, etc. The main functions of this job are to support data collection, analyses and database management of nutrition‑related indicators of primary concern to UNICEF, including with quality assurance of data; to assist in the analysis of core nutrition outcome and intervention coverage results in the MICS and DHS and other nationally representative surveys and some programme monitoring data; disseminating findings through different types of media (e.g. website and reports); and to support other inter‑agency related activities.ResponsibilitiesData collection, compilation, analysis and quality assuranceCapacity development and country supportData dissemination and advocacyPartnerships and representationSoftware and IT toolsData Workflow Methodologies – from data collection to publicationQualificationsEducation: Bachelor or equivalent (First Level University Degree) in Health Administration, Public Health, Nutrition and Dietetics, Statistics, Economics, Epidemiology, Computer Science, Public Policy or related fields. An advanced University degree (master’s or higher) is considered a strong asset.Work Experience: At least 2 years of relevant experience in Nutrition, Statistics, Economics, Public Policy, Infant and Young Child Feeding, Monitoring, Data Collection, Data Analysis, Database Management, Data Dissemination.Skills: Nutrition data, Statistical programming, Statistical software (Stata, SPSS, or R)Language Requirements: Fluency in English is required.Language: Knowledge of another official UN language (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian or Spanish) or a local language is an asset.Relevant experience at country level, particularly in development, fragile settings and humanitarian contexts.EEO StatementUNICEF is committed to equal employment opportunities and will provide reasonable accommodations for all applicants and employees.
