About the role
You will be embedded in the Operations department and work side‑by‑side with the team to streamline and automate back‑office processes.
This is not a traditional engineering role; the focus is on process automation, back‑office tooling and operational efficiency.
Responsibilities

Work closely with Operations teams to analyse workflows, pain points and manual processes.
Automate repetitive tasks and checks using SQL, scripting, or integrations.
Enhance and maintain the back‑office system, building new features to support operational needs.
Develop monitoring and alerting systems to enable proactive operational management.
Create dashboards (e.g. Tableau, Metabase) to give clear visibility of key operational metrics.
Investigate operational bugs and issues, identify root causes and deliver fixes or automation to prevent recurrence.
Collaborate with technology teams when dependencies arise, ensuring solutions align with business priorities.
Propose and drive a longer‑term automation strategy, including AI/ML opportunities to further improve efficiency.

Requirements
Essential

Strong SQL skills (data extraction, transformation and automation).
Experience with Scala.
Experience developing back‑office or internal tools (full‑stack capability ideal).
Proven ability to identify and deliver quick wins while building toward a long‑term strategy.
Experience building lightweight dashboards or visibility tools (e.g. Tableau, Metabase, or similar).
Familiarity with automation frameworks or scripting (Python, Node.js, etc.).
Problem‑solving mindset, able to investigate root causes of operational issues.
Ability to work directly with non‑technical stakeholders and translate operational needs into technical solutions.
Experience in fintech, financial services or other regulated industries.

Desirable

Knowledge of AI/ML applications for automation and data‑driven decision‑making.
Understanding of alerting/monitoring systems.
