Job Introduction
Serco is a leading Space Services Provider supporting over 50 space missions for agencies like ESA and NASA. We provide space capabilities across the full lifecycle, including satellite testing, launch services, spacecraft operations, space surveillance, data management, and downstream application development.
We are seeking a Software Engineer to join our Italy office to develop, enhance, and maintain applications for our cloud platforms. You will lead application development, improve platform management, collaborate in an Agile environment, and drive innovation.
Main Responsibilities
Design, develop, and maintain high-quality software solutions. Lead projects, mentor team members, and collaborate with stakeholders and partners.
Assets Required
Proven experience in software development with a strong project portfolio
Proficiency in Java and Python
Understanding of software principles, algorithms, and data structures
Knowledge of version control (e.g., Git) and Agile methodologies
Excellent problem-solving and teamwork skills
Familiarity with Kubernetes and container orchestration
Experience delivering presentations and demos
Proficiency in English; French is a plus
Successful Candidate Skills
Bachelor's or Master's in Computer Science, IT, Aerospace Engineering, or related field
Experience in team support and guidance
Analytical thinking and effective problem solving
Technical communication skills
Active listening and feedback understanding
Flexibility and adaptability to project needs
