Software Development Engineer II, Alexa MultiModal Initiatives
Join the team that brought you the Echo Show, a touch‑screen enabled Alexa device that supports video calling, music, weather, and more! Our Echo Software team works on the Echo Show, Fire TV, Kindle, and other high‑profile consumer electronics products. As a software engineer in the Alexa Devices team, you will help drive innovation by developing features that present innovative speech‑backed visuals on the Echo Show, Echo Spot, and similar devices.
Specifically, you will be responsible for developing and maintaining new systems, partnering with other Amazon and third‑party services and device teams as required. You will ensure Alexa keeps the conversation running smoothly, delivering services with minimal latency at Amazon scale. Your work may span device frameworks, APIs, cloud services, and large‑scale data infrastructure.

Key Job Responsibilities
Develop and maintain new systems for Alexa devices.
Partner with Amazon and third‑party services and device teams.
Ensure high reliability and low latency of Alexa services at scale.
Work on device frameworks, APIs, and large‑scale data infrastructure.
Opportunities

Collaborate with UX and Product owners to define customer experience and product direction.
Deliver high‑quality software through a dynamic, team‑focused Agile/Scrum environment.
A Day in the Life
You will develop and maintain new systems, partnering with other Amazon and third‑party services and device teams as required. You will ensure Alexa runs the conversation seamlessly, delivering services with minimal latency at Amazon scale. Your work will involve device frameworks, APIs, and more.
Basic Qualifications
3+ years of non‑internship professional software development experience.
2+ years of non‑internship design or architecture experience (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems.
Experience programming with at least one software programming language.
Preferred Qualifications
3+ years of full software development life cycle experience, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations.
Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent.
