Role Overview
We are now looking for a Service Engineer (m/f/d) to join our Field Service NAV Team in Piano di Sorrento, Italy.
As part of NACOS Marine APSS, which manages the Italian cruise market, you will play a key role in delivering, commissioning, and maintaining navigation systems on board some of the world’s most advanced cruise and merchant vessels.
You will be responsible for executing service and commissioning activities according to the work plan, ensuring that equipment installations, adjustments, and repairs are performed to NACOS quality standards. The role requires a strong technical mindset, hands‑on experience, and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
The position reports directly to the Field Service Team Leader.
Key Responsibilities
Perform commissioning, maintenance, and troubleshooting of navigation and control systems according to defined work plans
Carry out tests, adjustments, and fine‑tuning of navigation equipment to ensure optimal functionality
Perform installation and pre‑commissioning checks, including configuration and calibration.
Lead or support commissioning activities and ensure proper system handover to the customer or shipyard
Execute complex repairs and overhauls independently when required
Maintain clear and professional communication with customers and project stakeholders during service execution
Ensure all work is carried out in compliance with NACOS Quality, Health, Safety, and Environmental standards as well as customer‑specific site procedures
Prepare and finalize service and commissioning reports in a timely and accurate manner
Identify potential improvements and promote NACOS products and solutions to customers
Support the continuous improvement of service procedures and tools by providing field feedback
Key Requirements
Technical education (diploma or degree) in Electronics, Automation, Mechatronics, or a related engineering discipline
Minimum 2 years of relevant field experience on board cruise or merchant vessels
Solid understanding of automation and navigation systems
Strong troubleshooting skills and ability to perform both hardware and software adjustments
Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings and technical documentation
Fluent in English (spoken and written); Italian proficiency is an advantage
Hands‑on, customer‑oriented, and capable of working independently as well as within a team
Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills with strong attention to detail
Willingness to travel internationally and work onboard vessels or at shipyards as required
