OverviewSenior Software Development Engineer, Amazon MSKJoin the Amazon Managed Streaming for Kafka (MSK) team to help build the future of data streaming. MSK is a fully managed service that makes it easy for customers to build and run applications that use Apache Kafka to process streaming data. This role involves contributing to the APIs, workflows, core Kafka platform, and stand-alone tools to help the Kafka community operate more effectively. Upstream compatibility is a core tenet of MSK, and code changes to the Kafka platform may be released back to open source. As part of an AWS service built on open source technology, you will design and build new features, improve performance, prototype solutions, and deliver an exceptional customer experience.
ResponsibilitiesDesign and build new features for the MSK service, core Kafka platform, and related tools; ensure upstream compatibility and contribute changes back to open source.Collaborate with other engineers to build a large-scale AWS service and work with senior leaders to define the team’s roadmap, including identifying design and code changes needed in underlying open source platforms.Create scalable services, prototype solutions, test and review changes, and improve performance; contribute to APIs and workflows that compose the MSK service.Apply experience with streaming data technologies and open-source frameworks to solve complex software problems at AWS scale.QualificationsBasic Qualifications: 5+ years of non-internship professional software development experience; 5+ years of programming in at least one programming language; 5+ years of leading design or architecture of new or existing systems; experience as a mentor, tech lead, or leading an engineering team.Preferred Qualifications: 5+ years of full software development lifecycle experience (coding standards, code reviews, source control, build, testing, and operations); Bachelor’s degree in computer science or equivalent.About AWS / Equal OpportunityAmazon is an equal opportunity employer and does not discriminate on the basis of protected veteran status, disability, or other legally protected status.Location: ES, Community of Madrid, Madrid (uses standard job posting location information).For more information on workplace accommodations during the application process, see https://amazon.jobs/content/en/how-we-hire/accommodations.
