Senior Geotechnical Engineer or Engineering Geologist

Your new role
Ramboll Italy is seeking a Senior Geotechnical Engineer or Engineering Geologist to join its collaborative team in Italy/ Spain. This individual will serve a key function providing the review of technical reports, specifications, plans, designing foundations, retaining walls, and other geotechnical aspects of construction. In this role, you will have the opportunity to partner cross-functionally on premier land development projects.
Key responsibilities
Preparing and checking engineering designs, technical documents, and calculations, and supervising the production of design documents for issue to the Client
Organising and coordinating projects from Site Investigation and design feasibility to detailed design, including site supervision where required
Development of project controls and monitoring of progress against programmes
Ensuring that designs, assessments and checking of designs are in accordance with the current design Standards, Codes of Practice, and best practice
Undertaking a wide range of geotechnical design work, fully compliant with Eurocodes
Assisting in the preparation of expressions of interest and tenders, including cost estimates
Coordinating the work undertaken by external sub-contractors and design checkers
Project administration reporting to Line Management including monitoring programme delivery, resources, and budgets
Development and technical assurance of design, including client’s presentations and reports
Maximising business development opportunities where possible
About You
Bachelor's degree in Civil or Geotechnical Engineering or Engineering Geology required, Master's degree strongly preferred
5+ years of related geotechnical experience in geotechnical investigations and construction inspections
Experience working in a design environment (some site experience as well is preferred)
Advanced numerical modelling skills using 2D Plaxis or similar preferred
A working knowledge of a range of geotechnical software, including Geo Studio suite (Slope/W, Seep/W) or similar
Good knowledge of statutory processes and technical standards, including Eurocodes
Significant experience in the civil engineering sector
Excellent English written and verbal communication skills
Strong attention to detail with excellent analytical, multitasking, and judgment capabilities
Ability to effectively work independently and in a team environment
Possess a valid driver’s license in good standing for client meetings and job site visits
