The work we do here matters.The Specialty Cameras Engineering team is responsible for developing cameras for special applications, such as environments with explosive or highly corrosive atmospheres or long range surveillance for border projection. The products are aimed at public and commercial safety. The team is responsible for the development of the complete products, including hardware, firmware and mechanics and takes care of the whole development life-cycle that includes development, testing and maintenance of the systems we build.We work in two teams, one in Schio, Italy, and one in Ware, United Kingdom.Job DescriptionAs a Senior FW developer in Schio, you will join a scrum team working on the firmware that powers the surveillance cameras we develop. Working in close collaboration with other departments, engineers in this team excel at developing applications and drivers under Linux, and have a variety of backgrounds and specializations. The team uses modern C++ to develop highly reusable code, and utilize state-of-the-art systems and tools throughout the development life cycle.Responsibilities :Design and implement sophisticated scalable multi-threaded Object Oriented Software in C++ for solving challenging problems involving high speed data processing and networkingDesign advanced software modules that follow modern C++ design patternsApply C programming skills for Linux device driver development and debuggingApply problem solving skills and experience to identify and improve low-level system performance issuesApply engineering principles to design algorithms for controlling image acquisition parameters, as well as environmental conditions (Temperature, Power, Fog, Frost, etc.)Create design documents on software architecture and algorithmsCollaborate with Hardware designers on board bring-up and debugReview code of peers for adherence to coding standards and design guidelinesReview Marketing and Product Requirements Document during feasibility and developmentCollaborate with Quality Assurance team on identifying test cases for new features and areas for regression testsFollow the established development process for all design and implementation tasksProvides mentorship and coaching to junior developersBasic RequirementsRequired qualifications :Bachelor / Master degree in Computer Engineering, Software Engineering and Electronics and Electrical5+ years embedded development experienceStrong C and C++ design and programming skills for embedded applicationsFluent in English (spoken and written).Firm grasp of operating system concepts including processes, threads, mutexes, interrupt handling, and exception handlingExperience with C / C++ compilation and debugging toolsExperience with scripting languages, build systems, and version control systemsExperience with development in a Linux environment for ARM target processorsUnderstanding of embedded design considerations including C / C++ memory management, microprocessor architectures, instruction efficiency, and I / O timingWould be a plus :Knowledge of digital imaging / photography and audio / video coding is a plusTravel Requirements NoneRelocation Provided NonePosition Type Experienced Referral Payment Plan No Company Videotec S.p.AEEO StatementMotorola Solutions is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
