The AWS Managed Operations Data Science (MODS) team is seeking a Senior Data Scientist to lead research and drive our data and insight strategy for AWS. You will serve as a Full Stack Data Scientist, responsible for end-to-end data science lifecycle including data exploration, feature engineering, ETL, and model development using SQL, Python, Spark, Hugging Face, and other ML frameworks.Your work will influence technology strategy for the MODS organization and provide insights to AWS Operations and Site Reliability Engineering teams. You will tackle ambiguous, large-scale problems, collaborating with cross-functional teams.Arlington, VA (HQ2) – This role sits at our new Northern Virginia headquarters.We are committed to inclusive growth and employee development.Requirements include U.S. citizenship.Key job responsibilitiesCollaboration & Cross Functional Relationships: Interact with business and software teams to understand requirements and operational processes.Data Exploration and Analysis: Conduct exploratory data analysis to understand structure, quality, and patterns in complex datasets; apply statistical and ML techniques to extract insights and identify trends.Business Insights and Recommendations: Translate data insights and model outputs into actionable recommendations aligned with strategic objectives.Data Pipeline and Infrastructure: Contribute to design and implementation of data pipelines, data lakes, and data infrastructure to support data-driven initiatives.Metric Development and Monitoring: Define and monitor advanced metrics and KPIs capturing strategic objectives and operational complexities.Prototype models: Develop prototypes using R or Python; collaborate with a software team to productionize.Documentation & Continuous Improvement: Create and maintain technical documentation.A day in the life · Why AWSAmazon Web Services (AWS) is the world’s most comprehensive cloud platform.
