ERM Italy is seeking a motivated Senior Consultant with focus on Hydrogeological Modelling & Contaminated Site Management to join our growing Liability Portfolio Management and Remediation Team in Italy. Our offices are based in Milan although we offer flexible working arrangements as well. For this role we are looking for someone with relevant experience in numerical modelling of groundwater flow and contaminant transport, as well as in contaminated site management, developed through work on complex case studies. The ideal candidate has in-depth knowledge of the latest versions of MODFLOW and PEST, and proven experience in managing contaminated sites.
Key Responsibilities
Development and calibration of numerical models for groundwater flow and contaminant transport, including technical reporting, for both Italian and international projects.
Support for site characterization and remediation projects.
Active participation in ERM's technical communities.
Preparation of technical documentation and presentation of results to clients.
Required Skills
Advanced knowledge of the latest versions of MODFLOW (Modflow-USG / Modflow 6).
Solid experience using PEST for model calibration.
Strong background in hydrogeology.
Knowledge of hydrochemistry, including key degradation mechanisms of aqueous‑phase contaminants.
Skills in geo‑statistics.
Proficiency with GIS software (QGIS or ArcGIS).
Excellent command of English, both written and spoken.
Preferred Qualifications
Programming experience in Python, especially with FloPy.
Familiarity with Feflow.
Basic and multivariate statistics.
Proactive, curious, and problem‑solving mindset.
Ability to work effectively in international and multidisciplinary teams.
Flexibility and autonomy in remote work.
