LocationMunich, Germany, Bordeaux, France, Turin, Italy, RomeEmployment TypeFull timeDepartmentEngineering, Vehicle DesignHere at The Exploration Company, we are developing, producing, and operating Nyx, a modular and reusable space orbital vehicle that can eventually be refuelled in orbit and that can carry cargo - and potentially humans in the longer run.We want you as a talented Senior CAD Designer to help us in our mission by modelling the physical architecture of our spacecraft.You will be successful in this role if you are able to help us:To contribute to the definition of our overall vehicle architectureTo contribute to the detailed definition of our vehicleTo contribute to the certification of our vehicleKey Responsibilities:To build the CAD physical models of the vehicle and their sub-systems on Siemens NX and contribute to the choices in terms of overall architecture, aeroshape, equipment accommodation and main materialsTo maturate the CAD models by adjusting the architecture, accommodation, structure materials and thicknesses based on the outcomes of the thermo-mechanical computation loops and system trade-offsTo collaborate closely with thermal and structural analysts, materials and manufacturing engineers to ensure compliance of the physical architecture with the mission environments and manufacturing constraintsTo ensure the configuration management of the CAD modelsTo manage the vehicle structure mass budget, aided by the CAD model, and track it in the overall system databaseTo contribute to co-engineering sessions with the other disciplines, by sharing guidelines or orders of magnitude in order to converge on the feasibility of a solution, based on engineering feeling or simplified analytical approachTo define the volume allocations and clearances specifications towards the vehicle sub systemsTo contribute to the improvement of CAD tools and processesTo effectively communicate and provide recommendations through the analysis, preparation, and presentation of technical dataTo provide technical documentation & drawings and participate to reviews of designed systemsTo interact with space agencies and ensure support towards the flight certification of the vehicleTo contribute to the validation and verification of the requirementsWhat We Would Love to See from YouQualifications:An advanced degree in mechanical, aerospace or manufacturing engineeringMinimum of 7 years of experience as a CAD Design EngineerStrong experience with Siemens NX CAD toolStrong knowledge of aerospace vehicle design and associated challengesStrong understanding of aerospace materials, manufacturing processes, and industry standardsGood understanding of the spacecraft certification processExperience in Composite design is a plusExperience with finite element analysis (FEA) is a plusFluent in English.
