OverviewThe Artificial General Intelligence (AGI) team is looking for a highly skilled and experienced Senior Applied Scientist, to lead the development and implementation of state of the art algorithms and models for pretraining and supervised fine-tuning, with a focus across image and video modalities.As a Senior Applied Scientist, you will play a critical role in driving the development of Generative Artificial Intelligence (GenAI) technologies that can handle Amazon-scale use cases and have a significant impact on our customers' experiences.ResponsibilitiesCollaborate with cross-functional teams of engineers and scientists to identify and solve complex GenAI problems in Computer VisionDesign and execute experiments to evaluate the performance of different algorithms and models, and iterate quickly to improve resultsThink big about the arc of development of GenAI over a multi-year horizon, and identify new opportunities to apply these technologies to solve real-world problemsCommunicate results and insights to both technical and non-technical audiences, including through presentations and written reportsMentor and guide junior scientists and engineers, and contribute to the overall growth and development of the teamBasic QualificationsPhD, or Master\'s degree and 5+ years of applied research experience4+ years of building machine learning models for business application experienceExperience with neural deep learning methods and machine learningExperience programming in Java, C++, Python or related languagePreferred QualificationsPhD in Computer Science, Machine Learning, or a related field; with a focus on GenAI in Computer VisionExperience with learning multimodal LLMs and GenAI in Computer Vision, both in the image and video domainsStrong programming skills in Python and experience with deep learning frameworks such as TensorFlow or PyTorchExcellent problem-solving skills, with the ability to think creatively and critically about complex problemsStrong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teamsExperience with patents or publications at top-tier peer-reviewed conferences or journalsAmazon is an equal opportunity employer and does not discriminate on the basis of protected veteran status, disability, or other legally protected status.Our inclusive culture empowers Amazonians to deliver the best results for our customers. The base pay for this position ranges from $150,400/year in our lowest geographic market up to $260,000/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
