We are committed to circularity and the preservation of our planet.Role DescriptionWe are seeking a motivated Scientist to join our R&D Metallurgy Lab team, supporting the development and industrialization of innovative metal alloys and related processes. The role involves hands-on experimental work, characterization, and collaboration on innovation initiatives in metallic materials.Key ResponsibilitiesCooperate on radical and incremental innovation in metal and metal alloy materials topics.Conceive, develop and establish innovative and enhanced melting and processing.Prepare metal alloy ingots (e.g., by melting techniques like VIM, VAR, EBM) for development and pre-production purposes.Develop and characterize new metal alloys.Perform processes to obtain metal powders with suitable properties.Investigate innovative approaches for alloys preparation and after-melting processes (e.g., additive manufacturing).Identify suitable characterization techniques and contribute to improving existing setups.Identify material trends and optimization opportunities from characterization data elaboration.Assess the performances of materials in terms of composition, processability to semifinished or finished shapes, and functional properties.Collaborate in managing lab activities to meet timeframe constraints and foster team collaboration.Contribute to the definition of developmental directions.Present and synthesize results; ensure data analysis interpretation and editing of activity reports.Represent and promote the company knowledge with customers and within the scientific and technical community.Qualifications and SkillsDegree in Chemistry, or Materials ScienceAt least 3 years of experience in R&D of new materials (focus on metallic materials preferred)Experience in development and characterization of materials; expertise with metal alloys is a plusAbility to define, validate and document new manufacturing processesMotivation to independently develop new alternative processes to improve control of product structure and propertiesAbility to effectively present findings or oral argumentsKnowledge of melting techniques like VIM, VAR or equivalents for metal ingot preparationInterest in innovative approaches for alloy preparation and transformation (e.g., additive manufacturing)Good written and spoken EnglishExcellent communication and interpersonal skillsLocationLocation details are not specified in this description.What We OfferFull-time, permanent contract with salary commensurate with experienceAccess to company benefitsA collaborative and innovation-driven environmentHow to ApplyOn the SAES Careers Website, scroll down, click on the job position " Scientist – Metallurgy Lab ", and send your updated CV.Our Commitment to DiversitySAES Getters is committed to fostering a workplace that embraces diversity and inclusion.
