And that’s where you come in.Job DescriptionHitachi Rail is looking for an enthusiastic, self-motivated Sales and Business Development Manager who thrives in a fast-paced environment. The successful candidate will perform a range of tasks from administrative to strategic. The position is based in Naples or Pistoia, Italy.AccountabilitiesWe are seeking a Sales Manager responsible for supporting Hitachi Rail’s expansion into the European and domestic railway markets. This includes leading bids for project opportunities and providing technical support in pre-bidding phases. Responsibilities include:Identifying contacts, generating leads, and establishing relationships with prospective customers and partnersScouting for business opportunities, including new markets, trends, customers, partners, products, and servicesSupporting market and industry segment analysisUnderstanding customer needs and developing plans to meet them, setting objectives to develop and improve the businessProviding technical value in pre-bidding discussions, understanding Hitachi Rail’s product portfolio and processesSupporting market dialogues and RFI activities, including responding to questionnaires and liaising internallyContributing to negotiations and contract acquisitions during biddingIdentifying technology trends and product needs for R&D roadmap contributionAligning promotional activities with sales management and marketing teams, attending seminars, conferences, and eventsSupporting the corporate approval process and ensuring compliance with health and safety policiesUndertaking additional duties as requiredRequired Skills / KnowledgeCandidates should demonstrate:Minimum 5 years’ experience in railway sales, business development, or project managementExperience with procurement/bidding portals and data analysis systemsStrong drive to seek new business, strategic thinking, and decision-making skillsExcellent communication and presentation skills, effective networkingStakeholder relationship management skillsAbility to prioritize and meet deadlinesWillingness to travel within EuropeWillingness to relocate to Naples or PistoiaExperience in rolling stock passenger sector and international marketsEngineering background with knowledge of trains’ technical aspectsExperience with TCO evaluation models and railway market knowledgeUnderstanding of health and safety requirementsEducation / QualificationsBachelor’s degree in Engineering or Economics with relevant industrial product experienceLanguagesFluent in EnglishAdditional European languages (e.g., French, German, Spanish) are a plusThank you for your interest.
