This field engineering based position demands strong technical skills for deploying robotic equipment, including working with mechanical systems, electrical, configuring networking, and coordinating software systems. While training is provided on the specific systems that the engineers will be working on, a candidate should have foundational knowledge of robotics, networked mechanical systems, and electrical systems. The System Engineer will work with a team of 1-5 engineers and collaborate with an on-site project manager to provide technical oversight on the installation of both third party and Amazon designed robotics equipment. These deployments require extensive collaboration with various stakeholders, including third-party installers, contracted engineers, construction, hardware, software, IT, and other partner teams. Strong communication skills are essential for interacting with both internal and external partners and customers. The candidate must demonstrate independent initiative to identify and solve problems in real time during deployments and will drive continuous improvement initiatives to avoid recurrences.Systems engineers will deploy robotic systems in various phases of a product life cycle. When supporting new products, the candidate is expected to lead the development of process documentation and modify existing processes. A strong technical foundation, enjoyment of field work, and a deep interest in Amazon’s robotics systems are key attributes. The ability to recognize process gaps and take ownership in developing solutions is important. Project duration can range from a few days to several months and may require travel across the US.
