Overview Regional Safety Engineer, Data Center Health & Safety Team (DCHS). Join the world class safety culture at Amazon Web Services (AWS) and support the largest cloud computing infrastructure team as a Regional Safety Engineer. You will own the Health and Safety function for your area, improve health and safety of data centers, advance safety culture, and protect employees. You will collaborate with security, construction, operations, logistics, compliance, corporate counsel, and human resources to further the global health safety program. Close collaboration with onsite physical security, vendors, compliance officers, risk management, and fire/life safety systems is required. You will work with employees and contractors to achieve safety objectives and enhance our safety culture.
Key job responsibilities
Support the implementation of health and safety standards, policies and practices including safety management systems, training, risk assessments, industrial hygiene assessments, and applicable safety regulations.
Conduct health and safety audits of all Data Centers to ensure compliance with health and safety requirements and life safety requirements.
Ensure compliance and implementation of global health and safety programs that exceed regulatory requirements.
Develop health and safety plans for on-site emergencies, business continuity, and other unique events.
Maintain safety record keeping and data integrity.
Perform data trend reviews to present to cluster leadership to support business and safety initiatives.
Consult and partner with the AWS H&S Program team and legal teams for interpretations and guidance.
Identify risks and partner with Operations to mitigate them.
Daily interactions with customers delivering health and safety guidance.

Basic Qualifications
Degree in Engineering, EHS or related field and degree in Occupational Safety (Fachkraft fuer Arbeitssicherheit - German H&S officer qualification)
Minimum 3-5 years of field experience, including in Germany
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in implementing safety programs, processes and procedural documentation
Experience in collaborating across multiple legal jurisdictions/countries in EMEA
Experience in data center, manufacturing, construction, or similar industry with a mix of full-time employees and 3rd party contractors
Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret and monitor compliance to health and safety laws in various countries
