R&D Mechanical Design Engineer - Hardware Engineering

Summary
Plans, lead and execute product development assignments to develop and maintain mechanical/electromechanical components and assemblies to be used in medical devices, by applying the proper engineering techniques and mechanical principles.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities
By applying the proper mechanical/electromechanical engineering theories and practices, combined with critical thinking and technical expertise, defines and executes all the development activities to design and release to manufacturing mechanical/electromechanical components and assemblies to be mounted in medical devices.
Plan, lead and execute all development steps to design or update mechanical/electromechanical components, in full compliance with quality procedures and design control process, from requirements and specifications definition to final release for internal or external manufacturability and for serviceability and maintenance in the field, including cost control, system integration and reliability requirements for field application.
Take care of mechanical/electromechanical detailed design definition and execution, with the related design documentation release and product BOM creation and maintenance.
Contribute and execute, when needed, mechanical/electromechanical testing activities in Mechanical laboratory to support component development and/or component verification activities.
Display understanding of all phases of product life cycle management and act in compliance with regulations and standards within area of competence and expertise.
Qualifications
Displays an effective understanding of theories/practices used in Mechanical Engineering for product development activities execution, including a solid practical expertise in the usage of CAD design tools for mechanical drawing execution and BOM management, knowledge of mechanical manufacturing process, understanding of fluid dynamics and plastic injection molding simulation tools.
Knowledge of testing methodologies for mechanical/electromechanical parts and related applicable standards and familiarity with the use of mechanical laboratory instruments.
Capability to effectively operate in cross-functional and cross-sites global/international teams, with solid teamwork approach, problem‑solving attitude and ability to organize and prioritize tasks.
Good verbal and written communication skills, with capability to understand stakeholder needs and to tailor communications appropriately for intended audience; English is the standard language used for all written formal documentation.
Embraces accountability for assignment and expected deliverables within his area of direct responsibility.
Education And/or Experience
Mechanical Engineering degree (or equivalent in a technical/scientific area) and minimum 3–4 years of related working experience.
