Job Description
Execute field inspection and Quality Control activities on site, collecting relevant quality records. Ensure all welding, mechanical, dimensional, and coating/painting operations are executed in accordance with relevant Codes, Standards, and Quality Control Plans/Inspection Test Plans. This role offers specialization tracks based on technical expertise and project requirements.

Key Responsibilities

Execute specific inspections on materials, equipment, and construction/installation activities per Quality Control Plans
Issue Quality Records and non-conformance reports as required
Verify conformity with specifications and ensure proper material traceability
Check materials are correctly received, stored, preserved, handled, identified and traceable
Perform visual inspections, dimensional tests, and functional checks
Witness tests and inspections, verify results are in accordance with codes and standards
Verify testing and measuring equipment are calibrated and suitable for use
Check availability of procedures, qualifications, and certifications
Collect and manage documentation ensuring records are retrievable in final As-Built dossier
For subcontractor activities: ensure correct implementation of approved Quality Control Plans and witness inspections

Technical Specialization Areas
Welding

Verify welding parameters and consumables during operations
Check availability of welding procedures (WPS/PQR) and welder qualifications
Perform pipeline checks and material traceability verification
Check welding equipment, pre-heating, heat treatment records
Carry out visual inspections of welds and issue relevant reports
Monitor extent of repairs made by welders

Mechanical

Inspect mechanical items, steel structures, vessels, columns, tanks, heat exchangers, piping, pipe supports
Verify material receiving inspections and incoming mechanical items
Check environmental conditions are adequate prior to work commencement
Monitor preservation for mechanical items
Witness inspection and testing per project specifications
Evaluate inspection/testing results and ensure non-conformances are closed satisfactorily

Dimensional Control

Execute dimensional inspections during fabrication, construction, erection, installation phases
Control proper calibration of all measuring equipment
Perform measurements during mark-out, fit-up, welding, and after welding/PWHT
Check measurements during assembly area preparation and support points
Prepare as-built dimensional dossier per project requirements
Assist engineering with constructability analysis regarding tolerances

Coating & Painting

Verify/control correct storage and certification of materials
Witness/perform qualifications of coating processes
Check surface preparation and record atmospheric conditions prior to painting
Carry out wet and dry film thickness checks
Monitor correct coating cycles and wet film thickness
Perform visual inspections, adhesion testing, penetration testing, impact testing
Verify correct color-coding and painting

Qualifications
Education

Technical diploma or vocational qualification in relevant discipline
Associate or Bachelor's degree in Engineering preferred

Experience

3-10 years in Quality Control inspection activities
Hands‑on experience in at least one specialization area
Oil & gas, construction, fabrication, or offshore project experience
Site‑based inspection experience required

Certifications (based on specialization)

Welding: CSWIP 3.1/3.2, AWS CWI, or equivalent
Coating & Painting: BGAS CSWIP, NACE CIP Level 1/2, or equivalent
Dimensional: Relevant dimensional control and measurement certifications
Industry-specific certifications as required by project

Technical Skills

Knowledge of Quality Control Plans and Inspection Test Plans
Familiarity with industry standards (ASTM, ASME, AWS, ACI, API, NACE, ISO, etc.)
Understanding of construction sequences and planning
Instrument calibration and measurement techniques
Material preservation and warehouse procedures
QC database and reporting tools

Core Competencies

Attention to detail and accuracy in inspections
Strong documentation and record-keeping skills
Communication skills for reporting and coordination
Understanding of ISO 9001 Quality Management System
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Problem‑solving and non-conformity identification
