Job Objective
We are looking for a Project Quality Manager who will primarily focus on ensuring the robust application of Quality Management Systems across all project phases, guaranteeing compliance with internal, customer, and regulatory requirements. This role will also actively participate in broader Quality Assurance activities to drive continuous improvement and ensure overall customer satisfaction within the dynamic railway sector. In a highly regulated industry like rail, quality is not merely a preference but a fundamental pillar for safety, reliability, and operational legality.
Key Responsibilities
QMS Leadership & Compliance: Ensure the effective application of the Quality Management System (QMS) in all projects where involved, in line with ISO 9001 and relevant railway industry standards, guaranteeing its effectiveness and compliance across all project phases and operations. This includes disseminating Quality Assurance requirements within project teams and organizational functions.
Audit & Certification Management: Plan and conduct internal quality audits, manage non‑conformities, and coordinate with certification bodies to maintain essential certifications (e.g., ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 45001). Actively support external audits by authorities and customers.
Non‑Conformity & Customer Complaint Resolution: Lead the management of anomalies, non‑conformities, and customer complaints, ensuring thorough investigations, root cause analyses, and effective implementation of corrective and preventive actions (CAPA). Exercise the Right of Alert and Veto for critical unresolved quality issues.
Supplier Quality Assurance: Ensure the quality of purchased solutions and services through active participation in material acceptance activities (e.g., Factory Acceptance Tests – FAT, inspections). Assess and qualify new and existing suppliers, managing their performance and supporting improvement initiatives in collaboration with project and procurement teams.
Reporting & Feedback: Provide accurate and timely quality data for comprehensive reporting, proactive risk prevention, and informed decision‑making.
Contribute expert quality advice to project reviews and collaborate on Declarations or Certificates of Conformity.
Skills & Experience
At least 5 years of progressive experience in Quality Assurance and Quality Management or HSE roles within a complex industrial environment is preferred, with significant exposure to the railway or technology sectors.
Degree in Engineering (e.g., Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial, or Management Engineering) or an equivalent technical qualification from a recognized institution is desirable but not mandatory.
Proven experience in defining, managing, and maintaining comprehensive Quality Assurance activities for complex projects, demonstrating effective interaction with customers and project teams.
Solid knowledge and practical experience with Quality Management Systems based on international ISO standards (e.g., ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 45001).
Auditor qualification in accordance with ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and ISO 45001 standards is desirable and an added value for selection, with proven experience in conducting internal and external audits.
Extensive experience in supplier qualification and surveillance, including active participation in Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT) and inspections.
Proficiency in advanced problem‑solving and root cause analysis methodologies (e.g., 5Why, Pareto analysis, Ishikawa diagrams, Fault Tree Analysis – FTA).
Good knowledge of relevant Italian laws and regulations concerning Quality is desirable, with knowledge of Health, Safety, and Environment regulations (e.g., D.Lgs. 81/08, D.Lgs. 152/06) considered a plus.
Familiarity with railway‑specific quality standards and regulations (e.g., ISO/TS 22163 – IRIS, EN 15085 for welding, EN 50126/8/9 for RAMS – Reliability, Availability, Maintainability, Safety) is highly desirable.
Fluent in Italian and English (both written and spoken).
