Focus will be on hazards evaluations coming from chemical species (Flammability, Toxicity, Emissions/Effluents) and subsequent management of specific safety guidelines applicable within innovative process technologies (particularly on Carbon Capture, Hydrogen and e-Fuel production).
As part of the CTS Engineering team, the Principal Technical Safety Engineer will work in direct connection with Technical and Product Safety Team of Gas Technology Equipment business unit and adopting the same framework, covering from proactive safety practices assessment in innovative process technologies, to investigating fleet-related issues, analyzing incidents, and applying lessons learned to enhance safety standards.
Main Responsibilities
As a main role, the Tech Safety Engineer should:

Drive design and development of technical safety guidelines for each of the innovative process technologies - such as hydrogen systems, CO2 capture technologies, and advanced energy systems - working also with Venture Partners, Suppliers and Customers inputs, interfaces and requirements.
Conduct Hazard Identification Studies (HAZID), Hazard and Operability Studies (HAZOP), Failure Mode and Effect Analysis (FMEA), and other risk analysis methodologies, in order to identify and assess risks related to process parameters, following applicable internal and external standards like IEC61882.- using PHA methodology.
Apply Quantitative Risk Assessment techniques using several methodologies like Accident Scenario Reviews (ASR), Quantitative Risk Analysis (QRA), Fire & Explosion Risk Analysis (FERA), Layer-of-Protection Analysis (LOPA), Fault Tree Analysis (FTA), Safety Integrity Level (SIL) assignment, and supplementary protective actions etc to define robust mitigation strategies and systematically reduce plant risks.
