As a senior technical leader, you will set technical direction, craft the company's technical roadmap, and bring innovation to the blockchain, crypto, and software communities. You will ship mission-critical products across various teams, adhering to high coding standards in an innovative environment.What You’ll OwnLead architecture, design, and implementation of blockchain components, including core L1 protocol, L2 scaling, cryptographic toolkits, off-chain/multi-chain interactions, APIs, node infrastructure, and usability.Set technical direction and goals for the engineering organization, focusing on project impact, quality, and efficiency.Refine our technical roadmap to scale blockchain integrations, applications, and operations.Deliver innovative blockchain products from concept to deployment, collaborating with engineers, cryptographers, and product managers.Influence engineering culture by raising technical standards, increasing velocity, and promoting code quality.Identify strategic technical opportunities and take calculated risks aligned with company goals.Mentor and advise engineering managers, engineers, product managers, and leadership.Skills and Qualifications10+ years in software development, with experience in designing, building, and scaling production services and infrastructure.5+ years in technical leadership roles, managing mission-critical projects and supporting scalable services.Experience managing multiple long-term projects with stakeholders.Deep hands-on experience with major blockchain protocols (Ethereum, Bitcoin, etc.), including cryptography, consensus, UTXO/Account models, rollups, zk proofs, and bridging.Bachelor's, Master's, or Ph.D. in Computer Science, Mathematics, or related field.Proficiency in programming languages like Rust and/or C++, and experience with blockchain development tools.Passion for programmable blockchains and their future impact on finance, privacy, and identity.Excellent communication skills to articulate architecture and influence decisions.Strong problem-solving skills across all stack layers.Preferred QualificationsExpertise in Rust and/or C++, with successful Mainnet projects.Experience working with cryptographers on cryptographic primitives and protocols.Knowledge of advanced cryptography, zero-knowledge proofs, homomorphic encryption, and multiparty computation.The annual salary range for NYC-based candidates is USD 180,000 to USD 200,000, influenced by experience, role, and location.Horizen Labs is an equal opportunity employerWe provide accommodations for individuals with disabilities during the hiring process.
