Descrizione Lavoro
IRCCS San Raffaele Scientific Institute in Milan, Italy, is looking for a highly motivated Postdoctoral Fellow to join the Liver Gene Therapy Unit, SR-Tiget. The goal of our lab is to study liver dynamics during growth and homeostasis to devise permanent in vivo genetic engineering of hepatocytes for the treatment of metabolic diseases in pediatric patients. To this aim, we combine single-cell, organoids, and multiomic analyses, including the latest-generation spatial transcriptomics, together with advanced genetic engineering tools. The ERC-funded project builds on our recent findings that most hepatocytes are quiescent during liver growth, and only a fraction of them generate most of the adult tissue (Milani, Starinieri et al., J Hepatol 2025 https : / / tinyurl.com / 2x2nnf4r). We aim now to characterize molecular programs of mouse and human proliferating and quiescent hepatocyte subsets and assess their susceptibility to in vivo lentiviral gene delivery and targeted genome editing.
