Photonic Lab & Production Specialist Milan, Italy

Do you want to help build the next generation of photonic technologies? At PhotonPath, you’ll work side by side with engineers and researchers to bring innovative devices from the lab bench to production. We’re looking for a hands‑on, detail‑oriented, and curious person who loves working in the lab and wants to play an active role in assembling, testing, and improving real photonic products. In this role, you will assemble and characterize optical and electronic systems, carry out testing and calibration activities, and contribute to the continuous improvement of our production workflows.
Key Responsibilities
Assemble and characterize optical and electronic setups in the lab
Perform testing, calibration, and quality control procedures
Analyse data and support troubleshooting activities
Collaborate with the R&D team to optimize processes and improve system reliability
Manage lab components and equipment
Support procurement of tools and technical supplies
Requirements
Technical diploma or equivalent education in a scientific / technical field
2–3 years of experience in similar roles (production, testing, lab work)
Strong precision, organization, and manual skills
Familiarity with optical instrumentation and fiber handling (even acquired through academic or training experiences – gaps can be covered through internal onboarding)
Proactive and problem‑solving mindset
Commitment to safety standards and procedures
Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
Good command of English
Nice to have: Experience with Python for scripting or instrument control
Basic understanding of photonics or optical networks
3D design or mechanical prototyping skills
