Operations Engineer, Automation Operations Engineering
This role is part of the Amazon Logistics North America (AMZL NA) Core Operations Engineering team. The Operations Engineer will design, manage, and improve the next‑generation delivery‑station processes, equipment, and operations, leading complex cross‑functional projects in ambiguous problem spaces. The position requires significant travel (~75%) to support operations across fulfillment centers.
Key Responsibilities

Integrate systems for safety, security, stability, and efficiency.
Participate in the full system development life cycle, including test plan execution and solution quality.
Manage multiple high‑visibility projects and tasks while effectively influencing, negotiating, and communicating with internal and external business partners.
Define project scope, delivery, and budget; set objectives; analyze data; drive improvements to metrics and resource allocation.
Deep‑dive on technical solutions involving advanced technology applications, conveyor hardware selection, automation integration, and vendor commissioning.
Lead and coordinate design and execution efforts among internal teams and outside vendors, including equipment specifications, material flow, process design, and site layout.
Lead design reviews and communicate future impacts of proposed solutions on systems and facility processes.
Build relationships with partner organizations across Design, Procurement, Tech, Safety, Change Management, RME, and Operations.
Identify and lead process improvement initiatives to support operations.
Develop cross‑functional knowledge of Operations and Engineering systems, processes, procedures, and tools.

Basic Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree.
Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Visio, MS Project).
At least 3 years of experience as an industrial/operations/project engineer in a manufacturing environment.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience with Six Sigma and lean manufacturing.
Experience working with material handling equipment (MHE).
Intermediate proficiency in AutoCAD, VBA, and SQL.
Knowledge of automated material handling systems, packaging technologies, and storage solutions.
Master’s degree.

Compensation for this position includes a base salary ranging from $68,900 to $126,400 per year, depending on geographic market, as well as equity and sign‑on bonuses as part of the total compensation package.
