Job Summary
Responsible for operating, monitoring, and maintaining wastewater treatment plant systems and related equipment to ensure proper operations. Controls wastewater treatment plants in accordance with all established regulations, standards, and procedures. Performs inspection, operation and maintenance of lift stations, electrical controls, pumps, devices, and valves. Performs scheduled preventative maintenance. Performs and documents compliance with testing process, calculations, and formulas.
Physical Requirements and Work Environment
Typical workweek requires working Monday – Friday, 6:00am – 2:30pm and is subject to change to accommodate business necessity. Work may involve moderate to heavy work in all types of weather. Employees in this position will need to stand, stoop, walk, occasionally lift to 100 pounds and/or heavy objects and may perform other similar actions during the workday. The Town of Florence promotes and drug/alcohol-free work environment using pre-employment and Department of Transportation mandated drug testing.
Experience and Training Required
Operator II:

One (1) to two (2) years relevant work experience and/or training.
Required: Must have ADEQ Grade II Water Treatment Plant Operator, ADEQ Grade II Wastewater Collections within one (1) year of employment.
Preferred: Arizona Grade III Water Treatment Plant Operator.

Operator III:

Three (3) years’ relevant work experience operating in an ADEQ Grade III wastewater treatment plant.
Required: ADEQ Grade III Water Treatment Plant Operator. ADEQ Grade III Wastewater Collections.
Preferred: two (2) years’ experience in an ADEQ Grade IV Water Treatment plant with one (1) year experience as a Grade III Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator. ADEQ Grade III Wastewater Collections and one (1) year of supervisory experience.
