We support all AWS data centers and all of the servers, storage, networking, power, and cooling equipment that ensure our customers have continual access to the innovation they rely on. The Global Network Delivery organization is hiring a highly motivated Network Project Lead to join our growing team within AWS Data Center Delivery. The candidate will work with minimal supervision in a dynamic environment to drive the stability and sustainability of our next-generation networks and to develop innovative ways to automate and scale our network as we expand. The role may require international travel to support other clusters’ projects.The Network Project Lead will scale support for several data center locations and be responsible for day-to-day assistance with capacity management. They will work closely with internal stakeholders and external vendors to facilitate smooth project execution as directed by Technical Program Managers, the Network Deployment Planning team, infrastructure supply chain & procurement, and network engineering teams.Ideally, the candidate will have a technical background that enables understanding of the complexities of Amazon data center network architecture. They must be highly autonomous, detail-oriented, possess strong written and verbal communication skills, and have experience managing network deployment projects. Competence in networking principles, data center operations, cabling infrastructure, and fiber solutions is expected. This role emphasizes autonomous work with minimal supervision to drive network stability and growth, in a fast-paced, ambiguous, collaborative environment. Some international travel may be required.Key job responsibilitiesStrategic Planning & Design ManagementContribute to developing comprehensive 6-8 months network implementation roadmaps aligned with AWS DC expansion targetsCreate and optimize network position layouts and rack placement strategies for data centre floor space utilizationReview and contribute to High-Level Design (HLD) documentationCoordinate with engineering teams to validate technical requirements and design specificationsDevelop capacity planning models to ensure infrastructure scalabilityCreate standardized planning templates and methodologies for network implementationsProject & Resource ManagementLead end-to-end project planning for multiple concurrent network implementation initiativesDevelop and maintain detailed project schedules, milestones, and dependenciesManage project scope and quality parametersConduct risk assessments and develop mitigation strategiesImprovise and optimize planning by incorporating lessons learned from latest deployed projectsCoordinate across cross-functional teams to ensure alignment on project deliverablesTrack and report weekly project progress to key stakeholdersSupply Chain & Inventory PlanningDevelop project inventory forecasts and requirementsOptimize inventory counts by utilizing prior surplus sparesCoordinate with procurement teams for strategic resource acquisitionManage vendor relationships and delivery schedulesEstablish and adhere to procurement timelines aligned with project schedulesProgram Governance & Process ExcellenceEstablish and maintain project management frameworks and best practicesDevelop sustainable and repeatable planning processesCreate and maintain project documentation and reporting standardsDrive continuous improvement initiatives in planning methodologiesBuild and maintain stakeholder communication channelsCoordinate with regional teams for standardized planning approaches and optimized lessons learned-based iterative planningAbout the teamAbout AWSDiverse Experiences: AWS values diverse experiences. When we feel supported at work and at home, we can achieve more.BASIC QUALIFICATIONSProven experience driving continuous improvement and managing cross-functional teams to deliver scalable solutions.Strong analytical skills and multi-tasking ability, with success in data-driven decision making and stakeholder management at all levels.Expertise in network infrastructure, including cabling systems, fiber optics, diagnostic tools, and network fundamentals. The ideal candidate will leverage this technical knowledge to lead teams and optimize project delivery.PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONSBachelors Degree in IT-related field or equivalent experience, with relevant professional certifications and 5+ years of network infrastructure experience.Proven track record of at least 2 years managing large-scale, complex network implementation projects in telecommunications or network deployments.Strong knowledge of network hardware, infrastructure, and industry-standard deployment practices.Proven project management skills including budgeting, risk management, and resource planning. Strong organizational abilities and willingness to travel required.Strong leadership, communication, and analytical skills, with experience in project scheduling and stakeholder management.
