Overview

The activity of NAS domain includes avionics, navigation and radar systems for civil air traffic and technologies supporting pilots, ATC controllers and technicians of several airlines, air traffic control agencies and Air Force around the world. Italy is the Group’s Competence center for the design, production and delivery of Navigation Aids products and Competence Centre for the delivery of non-Radar Surveillance Products.
In the field of Navigation systems equipment in Air Traffic Management, the candidate will be responsible for all technical activities and customer interfaces during the offer and support execution phases of a Domestic/Export project. He/She acts as lead technical interface regarding Solution architecture, performance, and support to help solve issues raised during the project phase.

Responsibilities

The project engineer is responsible for analyzing the technical parts of tenders (compliance matrix) with assistance from Solution Engineering Managers and other experts.
Perform Site Surveys including Site Survey Reports to adapt the solution to site constraints.
Define the optimal solution architecture by using qualified products and simulations with customer site inputs.
Provide Product Adaptation Design Documentation and the associated configuration files according to the customer site and contracts.
With procurement, deliver technical specifications and contribute to the Statement of Work to suppliers to obtain commitments on cost, schedule, and deliveries.
Support the project manager in defining the scope of supply for THALES own and supplier products.
Support the product policy and limit project specificities within product forecast adaptation areas.
Support on-site teams to solve on-site issues in cooperation with product engineering, Project manager, customer service and other resources.
Deliver detailed documentation for existing product tests and support the teams involved during Factory Acceptance Test and Site Acceptance Tests.

Skills, Experience And Qualifications

The candidate should have a broad engineering spectrum: Electronic, Radio frequency, Software, Telecom, mechanical, simple Civil Works, and engineering process.
Good knowledge of standard Office tools (e.g., MS Office) and CAD (e.g., AutoCAD) or MS Visio, and experience with network technologies, Linux OS, data links and remote-control systems.
Desirable: basic experience in Navaids equipment (ILS, VOR, TACAN, DME) and in the technical field of air traffic management with related regulations/standards (EN, ICAO or local standards).
Strong communication and negotiation skills to ensure equipment acceptance and to support Thales product policy by minimizing project specificities.
Ability to handle multiple activities, including coordinating with remote support from product teams.
Willingness to travel abroad to worldwide destinations.

German – technically firm and fluent in writing and speech
Italian – technically firm and fluent in writing and speech
Additional languages (Russian, Spanish, French, Arabic) at a technical level would be beneficial for tender/contract requirements.
