The activity of NAS domain includes avionics, navigation and radar systems for civil air traffic and technologies supporting the activities of civilian and military pilots, ATC controllers and technicians of several airlines, air traffic control agencies and Air Force around the world. Italy is the Group’s Competence center for the design, production and delivery of Navigation Aids products and Competence Centre for the delivery of non-Radar Surveillance Products.The candidate will work in the field of Navigation systems equipment in Air Traffic Management and will be responsible for all technical activities and customer interfaces during the offer and support execution phases of a Domestic/Export project. He/She acts as lead technical interface with regard to solution architecture, performance, and support to help solve issues raised during the project phase.ResponsibilitiesThe project engineer is responsible for analyzing the technical parts of tenders (compliance matrix) with assistance from Solution Engineering Managers and other experts.Conduct Site Surveys and prepare Site Survey Reports to adapt the solution to site constraints.Define the optimal solution architecture by using product qualified equipment and performing simulations with customer installation site inputs.Provide Product Adaptation Design Documentation and the associated configuration files according to the customer site and contracts.In cooperation with the procurement department, deliver technical specifications and contribute to the Statement of Work to suppliers to obtain commitments on cost, schedule, and deliveries.Support the project manager in defining the scope of supply for Thales own and any supplier products.Support product policy and manage project-specificities within the product forecast adaptation areas.Support on-site teams to solve technical on-site issues in cooperation with the product engineering team, Project manager, customer service and other resources (Quality, local KPI, others).Based on existing product tests, deliver detailed documentation and support the people involved during Factory Acceptance Tests and Site Acceptance Tests.Skills, Experience and QualificationsGeneral engineering capabilities across Electronics, Radio Frequency, Software, Telecom, Mechanical, simple Civil Works, and engineering processes.Good knowledge of standard Office tools (e.g., MS Office) and CAD (e.g., AutoCAD) or MS Visio; experience with network technologies, Linux OS, data links and remote-control systems.Basic experience in Navaids equipment (ILS, VOR, TACAN, DME, etc.) and in the technical field of air traffic management with familiarity of regulations/standards (EN, ICAO, or local standards).Strong communications and negotiation skills to ensure equipment acceptance and to support Thales product policy by minimizing project-specifics.Able to handle several activities independently or with remote support from product teams.Willingness to travel abroad to worldwide destinations.LanguagesEnglish – technically proficient in writing and speechGerman – technically proficient in writing and speechItalian – technically proficient in writing and speechAdditional languages (Russian, Spanish, French, Arabic) at a technical level would be beneficial for tender/contracts requirements.SummarySummary: Location: Gorgonzola; Type: Full time
