We’re focused on developing a skilled workforce and encouraging diversity of both people and thinking.SafetyPassionQualityIntegrityPosition ScopeThrough partnerships across the organization, drive health, safety and environmental leadership to achieve United Malt Safety for Life goals along with the 4 Values within the framework of the EHS Plan, policies and procedures across North America Processing.ResponsibilitiesManaging a team of two EHS Coordinators across NA Processing.Lead on Environmental and Energy Reporting for United MaltEnsure compliance across North America with environmental, legal requirements, permits and appropriate standardsEnsuring that all North American Processing align with the United Malt Management System Framework for safety, health and environment, working closely with quality and food safety to improve risk management and deliver continuous improvement and ongoing certification under the global framework.Provide management support to the NA EHS Coordinators, ensuring that each site understands and maintains the necessary level of compliance documentation to satisfy the requirements of the above standards and thus ensure continued accreditation.Providing effective advice, coaching and reporting to leaders, to enable them to better integrate EHS within the day to day process.Responsible for ensuring that all notable incidents are investigated and reported in compliance with current company procedures.Responsible for supporting the US and Canadian Processing business on Worker Compensation Claims and Process.Work in collaboration with the global team and NA stakeholders in the development of improvement initiatives required to achieve the EHS vision and strategy.Support and / or lead in the development of topical programmes that support the NA and wider business.Working with the NA leadership team to drive understanding and achievement of the Company’s EHS goals and targets and being a key part of the overall Global EHS Strategy.Provide EHS support and solutions for the success of NA Capital Expenditure projects.Responsible for coaching and development of EHS Coordinators.Ensure monthly EHS meetings are held at each site and Worker Consultation is at the heart of everything you do.Responsible for the development of an Internal Audit framework that fully measures legal compliance in both US and Canadian processing operating jurisdictionsMaintaining regular Internal Audit & Inspection plans in line with the Global UMG process for all aspects of EHS performance at all sites.Overseeing the review of all events and working with the EHS Coordinators and site teams to ensure all are completed and actions closed out in a timely manner.Skills & AbilitiesAble to build good working relationships with local, State / Provincial and Federal regulators.Able to build good working relationships with remote site management teams as well as with senior / executive / corporate management.The ability to work with Operations and Engineering to identify, develop and implement sustainable improvement projects that support UMG strategy for emissions and resource reductions.Demonstrated success developing successful outcomes with Environmental Non-Government Organizations (NGO).Able to communicate with influence to site leadership, supervision, workforce and contractorsA high degree of computer literacy particularly with MS Office 360 programs and flow chartsAnalytical and investigative skills, especially as applied to risks, hazards and incidents including TapRoot investigations.Able to interpret legal requirements and standards and produce procedures that reflect the company’s practicesExcellent written and verbal communication skills including negotiation & influencingSelf-motivated and strong work ethic - no task is too small or beneath youAbility and willingness to regularly travel to other sites (domestic and international including the Canada, Australia); current North America DrivingLicense with own transportCurrent / valid PassportCurrent driver’s license and ability to rent a car for business purposesThe ability to carry out in-house training relating to company proceduresEducation & ExperienceBachelor level degree in EHS or related field; graduate degree a plusStrong and proven background ISO 14001 & ISO 45001 (OHSAS 18001)Proven environmental auditing experience
