The R&D Mechanical Team Leader will join the Development team of the Handheld Scanners (HHS) Business Unit and will report to the Mechanical Senior Manager. The role is responsible for leading and developing a team of mechanical engineers, ensuring the successful delivery of all mechanical aspects of product development and maintenance across the HHS product portfolio (including new developments, testing, and legacy product support).
Key Responsibilities
Lead, coach, and manage a team of mechanical engineers, ensuring delivery of assigned projects and activities.
Oversee all mechanical activities related to New Product Development (NPD) projects.
Guide the team in supporting the design process through analysis, simulation, and testing.
Coordinate external resources when required and manage co-design activities with suppliers.
Supervise Design for Manufacturing (DFM) stages, organizing and managing internal design reviews with Operations Engineering and Advanced Manufacturing to ensure designs are suitable for mass production.
Proactively identify and escalate mechanical technical risks to Program Managers, and System Engineers and when required to the Mechanical Senior Manager.
Support the Purchasing Department in estimating investments for production tooling and components.
Ensure the team collaborates with Systems Engineers to create accurate Bills of Materials (BOM).
Requirements
Education: Masters’ Degree in Mechanical Engineering
Languages: Italian; English fluent
Experience: as Team Leader or potential/wiiling to grow. At least 8/10 years of experience in Design of mechanical parts for mechanical/electronical/optical appliances, instruments, complex products. Experience and knowledge with plastic / metal materials, and all production processes including pre-qualification tests.
Knowledge in using 3D CAM System (Siemens NX is a must)
Knowledge in using PLM System ( Siemens Teamcenter is a must)
