Our client is looking for an experienced Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to join a cross‑functional team developing an innovative device for a major client in the pharmaceutical/biotech sector. This is a hands‑on, design‑focused role where you’ll contribute directly to the engineering and validation of a cutting‑edge product with real‑world impact.
Responsibilities
Collaborate within a multidisciplinary team (Mechanical, Electrical, NPI, Industrial Design, and Testing).
Lead the mechanical design of new medical devices from concept to verification.
Deliver high‑quality technical documentation supported by simulations and/or lab testing.
Participate actively in design reviews and project meetings with the customer.
Investigate emerging technologies and engage with suppliers for innovative solutions.
Ensure designs meet regulatory, quality, and manufacturability requirements.
Key skills and experience
MSc (or equivalent) in Mechanical Engineering.
5+ years’ experience in mechanical design for Medical Devices or Combination Products.
Proficiency with CREO and/or SolidWorks (highly skilled).
Expertise in dimensioning, tolerancing (GD&T), and statistical tolerance analysis.
Strong understanding of Design for Manufacturing (DFM) and Design for Assembly (DFA) — particularly for injection‑molded or high‑volume parts.
Experience in Design Control, Risk Management, V&V, and Process Validation.
Familiarity with Good Documentation Practice and Good Manufacturing Practice.
Hands‑on experience with prototyping and test sample fabrication.
Proactive, self‑driven, and collaborative mindset.
Excellent communication skills in English (Italian is a plus).
Contract for 3 months initially, with the possibility of working remotely after the contract has started.
Location: Milan, Lombardy, Italy.
