Position Title: Mechanical & Welding NDT Inspector
Location: Italy
Reporting to: FMWR Yard QC Superintendent

General Description of Role and Responsibilities
Welding Inspection

Monitor and inspect all welding activities to ensure compliance with WPS (Welding Procedure Specifications), PQRs (Procedure Qualification Records), and WQTs (Welder Qualification Tests).
Verify correct materials, joint fit-up, welding consumables, and environmental conditions before and during welding.
Check weld sizes, profiles, and cleanliness prior to testing or painting.

Mechanical Inspection

Conduct inspections on static and rotating mechanical equipment, piping systems, supports, flanges, and structural assemblies.
Verify installation against isometric drawings, equipment datasheets, and approved mechanical specifications.
Ensure correct torqueing, alignment, pressure rating, and component orientation.

NDT Oversight & Execution

Perform or supervise NDT methods such as:
Visual Testing (VT)
Radiographic Testing (RT)
Ultrasonic Testing (UT)
Magnetic Particle Testing (MT)
Dye Penetrant Testing (PT)
Review and interpret NDT results and coordinate with Level III for evaluation and acceptance criteria.

Documentation & Reporting

Prepare and maintain inspection reports, NDT logs, weld maps, and punch lists.
Issue and track Non‑Conformance Reports (NCRs) and corrective actions.
Assist in the preparation of final QC documentation packages (as-built dossiers, MDRs).

Code Compliance & QA Coordination

Ensure inspection activities comply with applicable standards such as:

ASME (B31.3, Section VIII)
AWS D1.1/D1.6
API 650/620/1104
ISO 9712 or equivalent NDT standards

Support internal and third‑party audits, FATs, and client inspections.

Skills & Competencies

Excellent knowledge of welding processes (SMAW, GTAW, FCAW, SAW, etc.) and metallurgy.
Proficient in interpreting fabrication drawings, isometrics, P&IDs, and welding symbols.
Skilled in use of inspection tools (calipers, micrometers, pit gauges, etc.).
Strong reporting, documentation, and communication skills.
Ability to work under pressure in field and yard environments.

Qualifications, Experience, Knowledge and Skills

Bachelor's Degree from an accredited university.
Work experience of five (5) years in the sought discipline after earning the university degree.
Candidates should have a minimum of 5 years of offshore experience in total, with at least the last 3–5 years spent on offshore projects.
Excellent spoken and written English including proven ability to write reports.
