RINA is currently recruiting for a Major Accident Hazards & Fire Prevention Engineer to join its office in Livorno, Genoa or Rozzano (Italy) within the Plant Engineering Division.MissionThis role of Major Accident Hazards & Fire Prevention Engineer plays a critical part in ensuring the safety, reliability, and efficiency of Major Risks plants, ultimately contributing to the protection of personnel, the environment, and assets.Key AccountabilitiesAssessing Major Risk ActivitiesConducting comprehensive risk assessments for new plants or plant renewals in accordance with Seveso law regulations.Identifying potential major hazards and assessing their impact on plant operations and surrounding environment.Providing consultancy on preventive or mitigation actions to reduce identified risks.Compiling safety reports and ensuring adherence to Seveso law requirements.Chair and manage HAZOP and SIL assessment workshops.EducationBachelor’s Degree in Chemical Engineering or Engineering GeneralQualifications2–5 years of relevant experience in risk assessment, fire prevention, and safety managementProfessional certification or equivalent experience in the field (e.g., CFPA Europe Diploma in Fire Prevention, NEBOSH Certificate)Solid knowledge of Seveso regulations and experience with major hazard installationsProven ability to conduct risk assessments and define effective mitigation strategiesExperience in fire-fighting system design and ensuring compliance with fire safety standardsUnderstanding of occupational health and safety regulations and related proceduresFluency in Italian and a good command of English (both spoken and written)CompetenciesADDRESS THE WAY - Have a big picture of different situations and reinterpret it in a perspective wayBUILD NETWORK - Forge trust relationships, across departments, and outside the organizationCLIENT INTIMACY - Embrace internal and external client needs, expectations, and requirements to ensure maximum satisfactionEARN TRUST - Take everyone's opinion into account and remain open to diversityMAKE EFFECTIVE DECISIONS - Structure activities according to priorities, actions, resources and constraintsMANAGE EMOTIONS - Recognise one's and other's emotions and express and regulate one's reactionsPIONEER CHANGE - Actively embrace change and benefit from the new circumstancesPROMOTE SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT - Promote commitment by keeping promises as a Role ModelTHINK FORWARD - Capitalise on experiences and translate them into action plans for the futureRINA is a multinational company providing a wide range of services in the energy, marine, certification, infrastructure & mobility, industry, research & development sectors.
