The Opportunity
We are looking for a Legal Counsel with experience in payment services, financial services and IT technology to join the Group Legal and Contract Management Department Team. By joining us you will have the opportunity to contribute to a variety of exciting and challenging deals working in an international environment. This position will be full‑time based in Milan and will report to the Head of Legal Italy.
The ideal candidate shall have at least 4 years post‑qualification experience within the legal department of a financial institution, fintech and/or large international IT company or law firm. The candidate should be self‑motivated, independent and well‑organised with excellent interpersonal communication and problem‑solving skills.
Day‑to‑Day Responsibilities
Negotiate and manage commercial legal work (contracts for clients, suppliers, partners, etc.).
Support the business on the negotiations of legal aspects of M&A processes, strategic partnerships, key commercial agreements and other corporate and business development initiatives.
Provide support in legal compliance and corporate governance matters (Board of Directors Meetings and General Meetings) relating to the Italian regulated entities within Worldline Group.
Ensure compliance with all applicable laws, including a particular focus on banking and payments laws and regulations.
Act as a legal business partner to various departments; build strong relationships across the organisation; liaise with outside counsel.
Manage and foresee business risks and opportunities by regularly reviewing changes in the regulatory/legal environment.
Support the rest of the Worldline Group Legal Team and senior management.
Provide proactive, timely and business‑focused legal advice on payments services regulation.
Provide general legal assistance and perform legal tasks including legal research and analysis of key issues.

At least 4 years post‑qualification experience in a law firm or as in‑house counsel.
Strong expertise in payments, financial services or fintech banking regulation.
Strong skills in legal documents drafting and negotiation (both in Italian and English).
Ability to work under pressure and effectively prioritise tasks.
Ability to thrive in a fast‑paced, changing environment and matrixed organisation with capacity to take ownership of matters, knowing when to take decisions and when to escalade.
Skilled at dealing with senior management and regulators.
Highly resourceful and collaborative team player.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills: fluent Italian/English is a must and other European languages may be useful.
