We were meant to fly.As Lead Infrastructure Engineer, you will report to STS (Shared Technologies Services) Architecture and Operations Team within the Avio Aero CTO Organization.We are looking for a technically skilled and hands-on professional to lead and evolve our core IT infrastructure. If you're an experienced engineer who thrives on real responsibility and wants to grow into a leadership role aspiring to grow into a leadership role through hands-on experience and impactful contributions, this role could be a perfect fit.Job DescriptionEssential Responsibilities* Ensure day-to-day reliability, scalability, and security of the on-premise IT infrastructure* Design, implement, and maintain core systems including virtualization platforms, storage, and backups* Troubleshoot complex technical issues and provide high-level support across systems and teams* Lead by example in a hands-on role, working closely with infrastructure and support engineers* Contribute to infrastructure strategy, planning, and continuous improvement initiatives* Develop and maintain documentation, procedures, and system standards* Participate in disaster recovery and business continuity planning* Gradually assume more leadership and project responsibilities based on performance and growth arriving to manage operational budgets, ensuring cost-effectiveness without compromising quality* Collaborate with other IT functions and business units to align technology with organizational needs* Define and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to assess efficiency, productivity and quality* Conduct regular performance reviews and provide actionable insights to the Architecture team and Product Owners* Ensure compliance with regulatory and company standards* Proactively identify and mitigate operational risksQualifications/Requirements* Degree in computer science or other STEM field or equivalent documented working experience of hands-on in IT infrastructure roles (e.g. system administrator, server/storage/infrastructure engineer)* Strong knowledge of Linux and Windows Server environments* Solid understanding of networking fundamentals (routing, switching, firewalls, VLANs)* Experience with virtualization technologies (e.g. VMware, Hyper-V) and enterprise storage systems (e.g. SAN/NAS)* Familiarity with monitoring and automation tools (e.g. Zabbix, Nagios, Ansible, Puppet)* Good communication skills and ability to work independently and as part of a team.* Good interpersonal and collaboration skills* Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities* Fluent in English and Italian (spoken and written)* Work Visa, in accordance with local regulation, is requiredDesired Characteristics* Humble, pragmatic, and reliable, focused on delivering real value, not just managing teams* Eagerness to grow into a leadership role through performance and accountability* Passionate about infrastructure reliability, automation, and continuous improvement* Calm under pressure, with a proactive attitude to preventing and resolving issues* Comfortable working in a hybrid environment with both legacy systems and modern tools* Curious and self-motivated-stays up to date with infrastructure trends, best practices, and tools* Values transparency, collaboration, and shared responsibility.* ITIL v4 certified* Microsoft 365 certifiedWhat we offerSmart working and work life-balanceAvio Aero, when possible, promotes smart work in hybrid mode, and encourages a good, healthy and satisfying work-life balance.
