Job Description
Although the role is based at our Italian office, this is an excellent opportunity to play a key role in ensuring compliance with hazardous location (HazLoc) regulations, supporting our prestigious customers to access North American markets and international markets.
As a ULS GMA Knowledge Associate specializing in Hazardous Locations (HazLoc), you will complete comprehensive research and analysis of HazLoc regulatory requirements under general supervision and mentorship. Provide guidance on standards such as CSA, UL, and NEC, deliver regulatory updates, monitor changes, and manage documentation within regulatory databases. Support interpretation of requirements to prepare executive summary reports on changes and their impact to customers and business.
Under general supervision and guidance, act as point of contact with certification bodies, authorities, and ULS partners to obtain and maintain necessary knowledge and regulatory requirements to support research and delivery projects. Contribute to identifying new business opportunities by working directly with internal teams and customers to ensure compliance and facilitate market access for products intended for hazardous locations.
Responsibilities
Provide comprehensive and research reports based on the required regulatory information.
Provide point‑of‑access support to address any local acceptance issues under supervision and guidance.
Coordinate research/studies including multiple products, regulations, countries under supervision and guidance.
May act as owner of certain geographic areas or regulations under supervision and guidance.
Cooperate with industries and colleagues to support development GMA knowledge services and customized solutions.
Supports actions related to GMA business expansion scope, track opportunity and business results.
May supervise the day‑to‑day delivery of high‑quality knowledge services under supervision and guidance.
Read and follow the Underwriters Laboratories Code of Conduct and follow all physical and digital security practices.
Perform other duties as directed.
Maintain expertise and provide guidance on regulations related to:
ATEX Directive (EU)
IECEx Scheme
North American HazLoc requirements (NEC, CEC)
Other regional explosive atmosphere standards
Qualifications
High School Diploma or equivalent.
Minimum 2 years of related experience.
Bachelors Degree in Engineering, International Relations, or other specialization based on the specific coverage, preferred.
Strong knowledge of HazLoc standards and certification schemes (ATEX, IECEx, NEC, CEC).
Familiarity with marking requirements, protection concepts (Ex d, Ex e, Ex i, etc.), and conformity assessment processes.
Excellent analytical and research skills.
Ability to interpret technical documentation and compliance requirements.
Proficiency in English (mandatory).
Additional languages are considered a plus.
