Junior Italy Electrical Plan Approval EngineerJunior Italy Electrical Plan Approval Engineer1 week ago Be among the first 25 applicantsRINA is currently recruiting for a Junior Italy Electrical Plan Approval Engineer to join its office in Viareggio, Italy within the Mediterranean and Africa Marine Division.MissionThis role focuses on supporting the elaboration of detailed plan and design reviews, resolving issues related to conflicting design requirements, ensuring client requirements and applicable standards are metProjects could include the approval of new building, conversion, and existing vessels and yachts.Key AccountabilitiesReview and approve drawings of electrical and automation systems, encompassing autonomous ship technology and cyber security, on ships, offshore units, and marine equipment, in adherence to Class Rules and Statutory Regulations. This includes projects for new buildings, vessels in service, and ship conversions.Provide support for the detailed marine engineering plan review, ensuring compliance with relevant RINA rules, international conventions, and contractual obligations. Additionally, assist in resolving issues related to conflicting design requirements and material standards.Take ownership and responsibility for the financial progress of assigned tasks, oversee project elements on a day-to-day basis, visit sites for measurements, and prepare project deliverables such as technical reports, project performance documentations, and engineering drawings.Apply project management concepts, provide feedback to project managers, escalate issues when necessary, manage simple projects, assess minor structural problems, and act as a liaison between engineering and construction teams.EducationBachelor’s Degree in Electrical EngineeringMaster’s DegreeQualificationsRequired Qualifications:1 year of experience in the electrical engineering field, particularly with maritime electrical systems or in a technical consultancy environmentSolid understanding of electrical regulations and standards (e.g., IEC, ABS, IMO) for ships and maritime operations, encompassing electrical system design, installation, and maintenanceKnowledge of electrical plan approval processes within the maritime industry, ensuring compliance with regulatory bodies and international standardsExperience in evaluating electrical plans and drawings for marine vessels, reviewing them for safety, compliance, and technical feasibilityFamiliarity with the use of electrical simulation tools and design software to assess electrical system performanceProficiency in creating detailed reports and documentation, outlining compliance status, technical findings, and recommendations for approvalStrong analytical skills to identify potential electrical system issues or areas of non-compliance during technical reviewsAbility to collaborate with internal teams and clients to facilitate the approval process and address technical concernsA solid understanding of electrical systems on board ships, such as generators, switchboards, propulsion systems, and battery managementCompetenciesTHINK FORWARD - Capitalise on experiences and translate them into action plans for the futurePROMOTE SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT - Promote commitment by keeping promises as a Role ModelPIONEER CHANGE - Actively embrace change and benefit from the new circumstancesMANAGE EMOTIONS - Recognise one's and other's emotions and express and regulate one's reactionsMAKE EFFECTIVE DECISIONS - Structure activities according to priorities, actions, resources and constraintEARN TRUST - Take everyone's opinion into account and remain open to diversityCLIENT INTIMACY - Embrace internal and external client needs, expectations, and requirements to ensure maximum satisfactionBUILD NETWORK - Forge trust relationships, across departments, and outside the organizationADDRESS THE WAY - Have a big picture of different situations and reinterpret it in a perspective wayWith over 5,800 employees and 200 offices in 70 countries worldwide, RINA is a multinational player which provides certification, marine classification, product testing, site supervision and vendor inspection, training and engineering consultancy services across a wide range of sectors.
