We were meant to fly.Avio Aero is reinforcing the focus to excellence in aeronautical Mechanical Transmissions for Helicopter's and VTOL applications.In this spirit, we are looking for a talented engineer, expected to perform design activities with particular focus to static structures design.In this role you will utilize expertise to develop and execute objectives for self and others, solve problems and have the ability to affect short-term and some long-term business goals.The position is within the Engineering Section dealing with the New Product Introduction process from concept design to product detailed definition, certification and initial production support for Helicopter's and VTOL NPI programs.Job DescriptionEssential ResponsibilitiesProvide and strengthen technical knowledge expertise in complex aeronautical gearbox static structures components (e.g. light alloy housing castings, adapters, forgings).Capture system level requirements (engine / aircraft) and flow-down to component definition deploying the required deep integration (cored fluidic lines, load path definition, optimal scavenge geometries, ...).Design the components identifying alternatives, agreeing upon design CTQs, scoring and down-selecting optimal solution to achieve product performance/cost/weight matching manufacturing capabilities.Build and strengthen technical knowledge expertise in legacy and novel manufacturing processes, identifying component validation needs.Proactively support and coordinate the activities with other departments and suppliers (concurrence design)Issue the technical documentation relative to the component design according to engineering policies and procedures (presentations as well as analysis reports)Contribute to and participate as a presenter in technical and program reviewsSupport source technological substantiation and non-conformances assessment (MRB)Support activities related to development findings, components performance and investigations (test requests, test data postprocess, laboratories investigation)Support cost-out activities, identifying opportunities and leading and contributing on design tasks for implementation (e.g. concurrence, analyses, DEC).Proficiently use of available design CAD tools (Unigraphics NX)Qualifications/RequirementsMaster's degree in mechanical/Aeronautical Engineering from an accredited universityPrevious experience in Mechanical Design of complex aeronautical gearbox static structures componentsKnowledge of manufacturing processes for static structure components (including castings)Proficient in the use of CAD tools (e.g. Unigraphics NX)English and Italian language knowledge, both written and oralWork Visa, in accordance with local regulation, is requiredDesired CharacteristicsClear thinking, diligent approach, target oriented, curiosity and passion for mechanical designGood interpersonal skills, team working and inclusiveness proven capabilitiesKnowledge of aeronautical power gearbox technical requirements, design solutions, technologiesPrevious experience in mechanical design of complex products and New Product Introduction processExperience with CAE tools (e.g. Nastran, Ansys)Previous experience in multicultural environment, preferable previous international experienceWhat we offerSmart working and work life-balanceAvio Aero, when possible, promotes smart work in hybrid mode, and encourages a good, healthy and satisfying work-life balance.
