Overview
The Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) Manager RSPP is responsible for developing, implementing, and monitoring policies and procedures that ensure a safe workplace and compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations in a pharmaceutical and chemical manufacturing environment. The HSE Manager leads initiatives to foster a culture of safety, sustainability, and continuous improvement, working closely with all departments to minimise risk and promote best practices.
Responsibilities
Develop, implement, and maintain HSE policies, procedures, and management systems in accordance with national and international standards.
Ensure compliance with local, national, and EU regulations related to occupational health, safety, and environmental protection.
Conduct regular risk assessments, safety inspections, and audits; identify hazards and recommend corrective actions.
Lead investigation of incidents, accidents, and near misses, and ensure root cause analysis and implementation of corrective/preventive measures.
Coordinate and deliver HSE training programmes for employees at all levels.
Monitor and report on HSE performance, including KPIs and continuous improvement initiatives.
Manage relationships with external parties, regulatory authorities, and emergency services.
Support sustainability projects and pollution prevention initiatives.
Prepare and submit documentation required for permits, certifications, and regulatory inspections.
Promote a safety-oriented culture and proactive risk management throughout the organisation.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Chemistry, Occupational Health & Safety, Engineering, or related field.
Minimum of 6 years of experience in HSE management, preferably within pharmaceutical or chemical industries, covering the role of RSPP.
Skills and Competencies
Knowledge of ISO 14001, ISO 45001, and other relevant standards.
Strong understanding of Italian and European health, safety, and environmental legislation.
Excellent communication, leadership, and organisational skills.
Analytical and problem-solving abilities; ability to work under pressure and manage multiple priorities.
Teamwork and collaboration.
Commitment to ethical standards and continuous improvement.
Languages
Fluency in English.
