Purpose of the function
The Market Access & Government Affairs function enables the company to successfully launch, protect, and expand its portfolio, balancing business objectives with long‑term value creation for patients, healthcare systems, and society. The purpose of the Market Access & Government Affairs function is to ensure timely, equitable, and sustainable patient access to innovative therapies by shaping and executing pricing, reimbursement, access, and public policy strategies aligned with healthcare system priorities and societal needs. The function acts as a strategic bridge between innovation, healthcare systems, and public institutions, translating clinical, economic, and societal value into credible, policy‑relevant solutions that support informed decision‑making by payers, regulators, and policymakers.
Roles and Responsibilities
Define and lead the national Market Access strategy in alignment with global and regional priorities, ensuring timely and sustainable patient access to innovative therapies
Act as the national reference point for pricing, reimbursement, access pathways, and health policy matters
Translate global value strategies into country‑specific access plans, reflecting local healthcare system dynamics
Lead pricing and reimbursement negotiations with national authorities (e.g. HTA bodies, payers, ministries)
Oversee HTA submissions, value dossiers, and economic evaluations to support access decisions
Develop and implement innovative pricing and contracting solutions (e.g. managed entry agreements, value‑based models, indication‑based pricing)
Drive product access and influence inclusion in treatment algorithms/protocols/formularies and coverage policies
Provide pharma value proposition and pharma‑economic information required by national and regional stakeholders
Work with an innovative approach to succeed with the “pipeline in a product” market access approach at national level
Co‑create with global market access to adapt the strategy and tools for P&R (value dossier, cost‑effectiveness models, patient funnels, budget impact models, …)
Lead corporate communication and the establishment of a Government Affairs function in Italy
Understand the policy environment – threats and opportunities – and define the appropriate scope of individuals and government bodies that argenx Italy should engage with
Define appropriate scope of influence and map institutional bodies and actors
Design engagement strategy with government bodies and officials as well as related stakeholders and trade associations that will promote and support our commitment to improving patients’ lives as an innovative, research‑ and patient‑focused company
Monitor and report on health policy developments that may impact operating environment and strategic objectives
Develop and implement health policy strategies in collaboration with cross‑functional Italian and international colleagues
Build and maintain a network of health policy opinion leaders, influencers, and decision‑makers to engage on topics relevant to argenx
Able to work cross‑functionally adopting a holistic perspective
Skills and Competencies
Ensures effective relationships with key target audiences in order to create high‑level partnerships with health authorities
Effectively remove barriers in critical settings
Excellent understanding of P&R processes and requirements
Works in accordance with argenx policies and in line with business objectives
Ability to work collaboratively and effectively together within cross‑functional teams and networks
Demonstrable experience with project management, proactive planning, priority setting, and securing alignment
Ambitious, inquisitive, naturally a quick study, with demonstrated eagerness to continuously learn, self‑improve and develop. Comfortable giving and receiving feedback in a diverse environment

Demonstrable experience in defining and implementing strategies that have shaped patient advocacy, public relations, and government affairs/policy matters
Proven record of accomplishment in developing key external relationships from the ground and building lasting partnerships with stakeholders and organizations, preferably in direct connection with Italian Health Authorities, National Agencies, Policy Makers, etc.
A leader with a forward‑thinking and entrepreneurial approach to building strong professional relationships internally and externally
Education and Experience
Bachelor’s degree (preferably in Life Sciences, pharmacy, or a Business related discipline) required
Experience working in price and reimbursement process in Italy
Experience in managing corporate communication will be positively considered
Other
Good knowledge of English
