DescriptionThe OpportunityHitachi Energy is seeking candidates to work as part of the Global Product Group (GPG) Power Transformers. The Global Product Specialist (GPS) will work directly with the Global Product Manager (GPM) for Industrial & Specialty (I&S) Transformers and collaborate with our worldwide network of R&D centers and local business teams to capture and translate customer requirements into improvements of existing solutions and to set directions for new product developments.This role offers transformer engineering and R&D experts an opportunity to apply their knowledge to assist customers with demanding applications and participate in the joint development of new solutions for the evolving electrical grid. The work includes participation in technical meetings, international standards development, and contributing to industry knowledge on power transformer technology.The GPS, as part of the team, will be accountable for ensuring the competitiveness of products, strong value differentiation, and technological leadership for converter transformers and related applications, focusing on customer satisfaction and profitable growth.How you will make an impactAnalyze market situations by understanding international standards, customer requirements, and their impact on the portfolio.Conduct competitor analyses, identify technical product gaps, and evaluate opportunities for competitiveness.Manage technical specifications of Industrial and Specialty Power transformers and support business case development for product innovations, technology transfer, maintenance, and competitiveness, especially for Renewable Power Generation Transformers and Variable Frequency Drive Transformers.Collect and share market technical data to validate product performance and translate customer/market needs into technical specifications following internal processes.Prepare technical communication materials (white papers) and support new product launches.Keep engineering, operations, sales, and channels informed about market trends, competition, quality, and configurations related to Industrial and Specialty transformers.Support data quality improvements, participate in customer meetings, and attend trade shows and conferences to better understand customer needs.Ensure training materials on Industrial and Specialty transformers, especially Renewable Power Generation Transformers and Variable Frequency Drive Transformers, are available internally and externally.Your backgroundMSc or BSc in Engineering10+ years of experience in transformer engineering or R&D, including electrical design and understanding of production processes and cost structuresTechnical knowledge of transformer portfolios for power electronic/converter applications, including variable speed/frequency drives, renewable energy converters, and industrial/marine convertersExperience interacting with international customers and standardization groupsGood communication and presentation skillsFluent in English; experience in writing technical papers or reportsMore about usWe offer a comprehensive benefits program to support your financial, physical, mental well-being, and personal development.
